I've been searching the web for a replacement tailgate for a 2017 Tacoma Offroad, can't find it anywhere. I'm sure its a hefty price with the camera in it. Anybody know where I can find a replacement to see what prices are like?

This happened. A friend of mine backed in to a mailbox moving it down his driveway. He know's a body shop owner who told me he could use a stud welder and it would look good as new but I'm not sure I trust that it will.

Have you tried using hot water and a plunger to pull it out. better than paying for a new tailgate

You'll have to purchase a new shell and swap over all old parts to it. Pretty sure you can't order it painted as well. So, you will have to have it sprayed.

The metal is too deformed to get that crease out.

Gotta get a shell and get it painted. Transfer everything from your current tailgate to the new one. Looks like a pretty hard crease, and ends on the lower body line, would be a tough repair.

the tailgate is the same on all of these, so there won't be an "off road" specific tailgate.

Yeah, that sucks and it WON'T buff out. New would be my only way to go. What others have said. New shell and a paint job.

    Not enough to list
A truck back into my tailgate. Guy was nice enough to leave and note. Body shop wanted to pull, fill and repaint for 900ish. I opted for a brand new tailgate and paint for 1500ish. The guy paid me cash. He was probably drinking and being in the military, I was sure he didnt want to fuck around.

Yeah I got quotes for filling, sanding, painting this little ding, mostly scrap/paint transfer from my BIL jumping into the trailer when it wasn't hooked up...threw the tongue into the "O" area, both below and above. I believe they ranged from $617 to just under $800.

Of course no insurance involved, and so far I've just tried not looking at it, since it happened just at the 1 year mark of owning her...Not sure I want to deal with my sister when providing a $600+ estimate to her for his mistake!back up KC C2 floods.jpg

So whats the issue here? You go get your friends Visa and order a new one. Then, you borrow that Visa again and take it to the paint shop for a nice glossy paint match. Am I overlooking something???
