Thanks. I didnt think there was enough room. Especially with heat dissipation and not getting that portion of the t case too hot.

If you do notice the heat getting to the transfer case, it would also be an easy place to put a aluminum heat shield - just attach to the skid above the pipe.

By moving it up and back it makes room for the last skid leaving a smooth skid plates with no bumps. if you dont move it the skid must drop lower than the rest of the skids leaving an area to hang up on. I use my skids a good amount and havent touched the exhaust on anything with it being up higher.

Guess that way could work also. I'd like to see skids installed to see clearance between the skid and exhaust. I did mine a few months before this pic was posted.

Interesting, I just realized that now RCI offers a stock exhaust and re-routed exhaust t-case part of the skid, where if you have stock it tucks the last part higher up and if you have re-routed exhaust it leaves it at the same level. Mine is the one where it tucks it up, so I wonder if I even have enough room to do the standard re-route, or will I have to find a way to tuck it up a bit higher.

Stock exhaust, tucked up higher at the end:

    I’m confused what you’re saying.

Usually vendors offer two separate skids for whether you’re rerouted or not.

Oh my bad, I got my skids way back in 2016 when only about 2 companies made them. They did not have the re-route option back then. As far as I remember.

Ahhh I’m tracking. If you do the reroute, you’ll want the new skid. Otherwise the reroute is pointless as the skid will still be a low hanging point

    +1

I ran normal skids and specifically did the reroute so I could get the reroute skids to gain back about 1-1.5" of clearance.

Yeah but in those cases aren't they going out of their way to make it magnetic for refrigerators so you can stick magnets to it?

Was laying under my truck today and checked out my exhaust. There must’ve been a change from earlier years because I have an ‘05 and it’s definitely not stainless. Had a nice layer of surface rust over everything. For anyone curious.

And the skid plate does not fit. The exhaust lines up exactly with the support bracket in the Mobtown transfer case skid and keeps it from lining up by about 1/2”.

    Back to the exhaust guy.

Left the crossmember on the truck so the shop knew the right clearance

Exhaust re-route is finally complete. Took the truck to a shop that does exhaust and fab work but normally works on Jeeps. I briefly explained what I wanted and he decided on the rest. Couldn’t have been happier!

Totally overpaid a local shop for this reroute. Looks legit though. 20180720_134133.jpg
