You’re best bet will be going with a simple bilstein 5100 series shocks all the way around. These are adjustable shocks and will allow anywhere from .5-2.5 inches of lift I believe that is the numbers someone correct me if I’m wrong. Anyways, this is a simple install and allows you to keep all your stock components with only having to change the shocks themselves. And another bonus towards your stock wanting is that bilstein is the same brand of shock that is on your truck from the factory. The 5100 series are just a step up. I have a feeling this is what most people are going to tell you to run. I’m also sure someone in the Charlotte area will be more than happy to install them for you. Forego a shop they will rip you off. If you have any more questions feel free to ask.

OP, 5100s is what I would recommend as well. Figure out what parts you need and buy them from Headstrong or Wheelers. If you are not in a huge hurry just have the parts ready and wait for a mod day, we do them from time to time around here. I hosted the last one in fact, couple of us replaced our shitty needle bearings.

Hi guys. So I need some help, please. I am getting the OME kit and either need to find a good mechanic around the Charlotte area that is familiar with the setup and can also install the ECGS or maybe someone up here could do it and teach me.

I am completely new to this. Originally was going to just get a RC, but from the help here and research I've learned a lot and want to do it right.

Any recommendations on a shop OR could someone be willing to help me install it. I obviously don't know what im doing, but will do whatever I can to help and pay if need be for it to be right.

Awesome, this is exactly the type of advice I was looking for. So just replacing my current shocks with Bilstein 5100s and adjusting them to a particular setting will get me a small lift without having to do anything else? That would be great if that's the case, I'm trying to keep it as simple as possible since I'm new to this.

That will allow you lift your front or "level it out", may need some small blocks or preferably an add-a-leaf if you want to lift the rear any. Consider how much hauling you may be doing? Do you ever plan to get a camper shell etc. Dont forget to get an alignment after any front suspension work, go see Rocky at Lacy's Alignment.

Perfect, thanks so much. Really appreciate the advice. I'll think it over some more to figure out the best set-up.

Definitely go to Lacy’s alignment shop. They do the best work. A little more expensive but he knows Tacoma’s!!!

I would run spacers/blocks before doing 5100's and compressing the stock coils up front - the ride will be too harsh that way.

What do you mean by running spacers/blocks? Sorry I'm a novice in this area and still learning. Thanks.

Spacers on top of your stock struts instead of getting new struts/springs, and blocks in the back...i.e a "spacer lift"

It's far cheaper and if you are a pavement queen, no reason to spend a bunch of money on a setup that will have a worse ride than stock.

Interesting, I will look into that. Is there any particular downside to doing a spacer lift- as in is it bad for the truck at all? Also, do you have any recommendations on what type of spacers I should look at? Thanks for the insight, this is very helpful.

They limit suspension travel. But if you're not offroading then it's not an issue. Some of us know we drive trucks and not Cadillacs so a possible stiffened suspension from a 'real' suspension lift isn't a bad thing.

Bilsteins are generally the preferred budget lift around here.
