    What's up TW!

I bought new black rear bumper caps for my 2017 OR DCSB and installed them tonight. I started on the drivers side. Took the arrow head clips out. Pulled up the plastic slightly over the caps. Pulled off the chrome caps and replaced with the black. Whole process went smooth according to the videos i have watched.

I plug the arrowhead clips back in and see another clip/tab laying on the ground and all i can think is "shit i knew this was too easy". Turns out there are clip/tabs holding the step part of the bumper down that broke off pulling the plastic up over the caps. Now the left side is flimsy

I didn't make the same mistake with the passenger side. I found the tabs and pushed them up instead of ripping the plastic off. That side went back in firmly.

LMAO. I feel like a dope. I won't be replacing the bumper. There is another tab under the plastic part of the bumper behind the cap that I will just drill a small hole through and install a nut and bolt to hold it down more firmly.

Anyone else got any stories? I know mine is mild, but I would like to hear about some other DIY mishaps. I hope mine and any other experiences can help some other newbies out.

    Thanks for reading .

No self-inflicted mishaps here. I'm more worried about the dealer breaking stuff. They scratched my fender on my 5K service.

I was installing a new exhaust but the stock exhaust bolts were too rusted on. ended up taking a grinder to the exhaust and cutting it off at the flange.
    I guess I won't be re-selling my stock exhaust.

I tend to think everything is broke from the factory. My mission is to fix it while making it better:D

If that's the case, it's only a matter of time before you swap in a 2JZ motor

My best friend is my wrenching buddy. If one of us doesn’t bleed on a project we did something wrong.

    Broken things?

My wallet, promises to myself and others saying things like “this is the last part I buy, I won’t change the wheels on this one, I’ll wait until I wear out the tires before I get new tires, etc etc.”

Surprisingly I haven’t really broken any parts on this one, just a few clips on the sill plates while chasing windshield leaks (grumbles).

I dont think it broke anything, but that picture of your truck hung up on the rouge lift seems like it would fit the theme.

There’s a member in here that broke 5 of 6 aftermarket lug nuts off after installing spacers and using an impact gun.

Holy shit that was not good, a lot of drilling, I really fealt bad for him.

There is a recent thread about a guy starting a company that is going to make covers that go over the caps. Looks pretty cool if you ask me, Im a fan of black so switching to OEM was a no brainer
