Third Gen Tranny Class action lawsuit

I dont have any real problems with this transmission. its just people aren't aware toyota made this truck have a motor that revs. Honestly 60mph below this transmission shines.

 

I’m sure there are multiple reasons. But since I’m not an engineer, I’m probably not smart enough to understand.... besides it’s probably ancient Japanese secret, or written somewhere deep in mike sweers diary

 

Im going for ovtune sooner or later. My only gripe is 91 octane, otherwise nothing but super positive reviews and results

It’s not the transmission. It’s A combination of multiple things. It’s a lack of torque, Mixed with bad shift points and probably tons of algorithms for shit involving the Atkinson to Otto cycle and vise-versa. Along with all the timing and everything else that’s important that the ECU is controlling for this thing to run efficiently. I’m sure the OV tune guys know or it’s in that thread but it’s same many damn pages I don’t even bother to try and read it.

 

I’m sure you can run 87 on. Just won’t get all the performance out of it. It’s not like the engine is going to shut off or blow up
