What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Scored 2 new K&N filters & a cold air intake from my old man yesterday as we loaded up his (20 years later, still not assembled) Cobra kit car for a move to TN. It now officially is “more together” than it’s ever been... with all the pieces minus the motor/transmission packed inside after we put on the body.



It fits, let’s put all the pieces inside it....



Gonna need an engine hoist.... oh, the 8 Ton bottle jack doesn’t work - go buy a new one.

Anyone need a part from one of 3 Gran Prix? How about a new project - 1950 Dodge Power Wagon.... blew engine on first trip almost 30 years ago. 8 years later I decided to build/finish it during a summer break at Uni.... got bored.



Oh, found that K&N filter on a shelf... does it fit? A couple wraps of flat garage door weather stripping and it does.

 

From my driving angle it looks to low for me,
The pocket area is much easier to see it while driving down the road

I'm going to have to plan a trip a few hours north to take @BartMaster1234 out wheeling with me on a real 4x4 trail if he doesn't do it soon.

On the fourth day, we hit our highest elevation and several fire lookouts (which were, dare I say, surrounded by burned forest). We also made our way down to Lake Chelan via The Jungle - a fun, steep, narrow set of switchbacks that we refused to re-route around as suggested by the cautious folks who coordinate the WABDR!

Waxed it. Turtle wax ICE also shines up bedliner without turning it white too. Still getting used to seeing those newish wheels on there.

 

I normally hate those wheels, but they actually look really good on your rig. It's gotta be the color you painted them. Either way, looking good!

 

Finished installing new front bumps and a northstar 24f agm.

Easy peasy




I used my blue threadlocker rather than the red loctite that was provided...just in case they have to come off for some reason in the future.

 

So I see it sits at an angle, which direction does the angle face?

 

Inward toward the truck so it hits the impact plate straight on

I spoke too soon....can't get the stock bump stop off the drivers side. It just spins in place...wtf. The passenger one spun right off

 

Grinder time

 

Thought about that but I don't want the bottom half of the bolt to fall into the LCA and rattle around on me

 

GOT IT...little fucker finally came off. Had to apply upward force underneath it with a crowbar while spinning it with the other hand.

Weird considering the other side spun right off with ease.

 

One side probably was under water longer when you crossed that river at an angle, rust
