$230 I also had them bolt up the cross member, tranny and transfer skids which consisted of like 6 bolts total.

Got my reroute done this morning. My local 4x4 shop recommended the place and couldn’t be happier. An hour and $50 later here are the results. I also got my exhaust tip chopped off cause why not.

Now I can install my Pelfreybilt skid plates.

I am debating this. Aside from the loss of clearance, is there any other downside to just leaving the exhaust where it is if I am going to be running a transfer case skid?

Not really any downsides. Just better clearance.

When you do a reroute you void the government mandated warranty on new catalytic converters. So if your cat goes you may have to pay out of pocket

That's good. I think my fear was that there was some issue or danger from having the hot pipe run over the skid.

The clearance loss is about an inch (beyond what you lose by having a transfer case skid at all) I suppose?

Toyota is not responsible to replace a cut catalytic converter. It's installed as a single piece

Well the cat itself doesn’t get cut so logically speaking, a reroute will have no effect on the cat.

That said Toyota sure as shit wouldn’t replace it, which is obvious. It’s not like those cats are needed anyways. There are still the two on the headers.

Is it truly necessary to wrap the rerouted area in heat wrap? I’d rather have all my ducks in a row prior to installing the skids than have to go back and redo anything.

My guy installed a heat shield where the reroute gets closest to the actuator as he thought it might be an issue.. Others said they have not had any issues with the heat affecting it. Other than that, I don't see where the heat would affect it, but also don't see how an exhaust wrap would hurt either.

Do you have a photo of yours by chance? I’m having a hard time picturing it. Below is my reroute if that helps. Maybe you can tell me if there is anything I should keep my eye on. I will probably buy some heat wrap just to be safe.

Post #233 in this thread is a pic of my initial reroute. I ended up getting it redone after realizing the bracket on the T-case skid would be hitting the exhaust. Basically that black thing sticking out the back of the transfer case, is the part he was worried about being affected.

Gotcha. That’s what I assumed you were talking about. Thank you for the clarification. I may take it back Monday morning and bring up those concerns. I’m sure they’ll probably agree and the cost shouldn’t be too substantial since the initial reroute was only $50 for me and I was out of there in under an hour.

    Like, so many.
My guy did a heat shield too. He thought there was enough clearance that it wouldn't be an issue, but he did it anyway.

Better to be safe than sorry especially when it comes to the guts of the truck in my opinion. Thanks guys!

Getting my reroute done as we speak. First place wanted $350, second place $120. Needless to say I went with the second place.

I went the bolt on method. I can change it back whenever.
It's not the full Spec-U so I can use whatever cat-back I want. For now It's just stock.

All finished. Looks like it’ll work out great. Can’t wait to put the new skid on.
