Plans fell through for a trip up to Flagstaff but put up the new tent in the backyard and I like it so far. Really light and compact, if I could fold it up properly! Hopefully next weekend will be able to test it for real. Like that you can use the poles that come with the tent or your trekking poles with it.

Your tent will last longer if you stuff it rather than fold it. Folding creates creases which weaken both the fabric and the coating(s). Stuffing is so random it will never be the same way twice.

I wonder if the stuff vs roll is still valid given all of the new generation of fabrics and coatings? Knowledge or opinions anyone?

Depending on the item and volume needed, I do a combo of both, but would like info based on facts.

Stuffing or wadding is even more important with the newer fabrics. Although they have very high tensile strength (they began life as sails), they have low abrasion resistance.

    Thanks for the response.

DD - if you want it done right, you have to do it yourself. Always applies!

    Anker Solar 21W model.

I received it Thursday and went to a hammock hang Friday. I only needed the solar charger as a 'test'. The 3 day trip was not enough to seriously drain the Delorme inReach or the phone.
BUT, I did test one time. The phone was at 84%, and in about an hour it was full, 100%. Direct to phone, no battery pack, and the sun was spotty, as we were in a lot of high trees.

Review based on this brief test ... Great.

Will it charge your phone? Yes. Is it safe? No.

Never charge your important devices directly from a solar panel - the fluctuating input can damage those Li packs in phones, GPS, etc. Always charge to a battery pack and then unplug and charge your devices from said battery pack.

I've had one of the older Anker 2 panel solar chargers for about 3 years now, charges everything relatively quickly in direct sunlight. Has held up to a fair amount of abuse of the years.

I've charged my phone quite a few times directly from it over the years, haven't noticed any effect on its battery performance yet.

I’m shopping for a rtt I see smutty built a bit less expensive than others. Could some rtt owners give me some feedback. I don’t want to spend the extra $500 on other brands if I don’t have to
