:crapstorm:2010 double cab tacoma. Just curious to see if anyone else has had this problem. Around each window frame about a 1/2 inch away from the rubber window seal there are small little raised spots that are rusting thru the paint. Looks like slag from welding or iron deposits left over. Each of my four doors have multiple spots. Rust is actually running down my door frame. My truck is 6 months old. No really happy about this I figure they will have to repaint all four doors. Anyone know of a paint tsb or info wouble be greatly appreciated. I will post pics later also my truck is white in color. Thanks

    The paint does suck...
possibly debris from transport on the train tracks maybe try clay barring the truck.

Yeah...I would take it back to them ASAP and get them to work on it. I would be surprised (but it could happen) if it was something from construction. Something from the transit would make more sense.

Hopefully it'll clay bar out and not be a continued issue. Good luck!!

Do not clay bar that shit. It is a new damn truck. It is not for you to fix. Get all up on Toyota's ass to do the right thing and fix it and paint it if need be. A goddamn 6 month old truck should have zero rust period. End of fucking story.

I dunno man...I found metal shavings that were rusting in my '09 in odd places. It ended up being that the roof was replaced after it was crushed by a tree limb (a 'branch' if you ask the dealer) in Hurricane Gustav. Check my link for pics, etc.

    I would walk from it

The '10 I bought to replace the '09 did not have any rust, metal particles, or other such horseshit.

Edit; Do you already own the truck or are you looking at buying a 6 month old 2010?

Its not from transport there is a small bump under the paint in a few areas that i am sure are going to start to rust soon. They too are around the window frames. I am a pipefitter by trade and have seen many times weld slag or contamination on steel cause rust to eat thru the paint. Yes i agree rust like this on a 6 month old truck is BAD!!!! I cant wait to hear the BS the dealership is going to give me. At this point with toyota i would love to just torch my truck in the parking lot. Its a long story but i am a toyota only driver always have been this will be my 12 tacoma and i must say i will agree with everyone on the decreasing quality issues. My last 2008 tacoma went back under the lemonm law. So i was hoping i was in the clear with this new truck. But im afraid not. well i guess i get to hear what the dealership says it goes into get new springs (tsb) next wednesday. I would think they would have to paint the whole door to make it match.

The media would love it though. I can see it now. "Toyota, recently known for faulty acceleration, has had one of their own vehicles drive through their front doors!"

I was talking about the driving thru the front doors thing...not the rust thing. The rust thing they should cover.

WTF? I'd hate to think that this is not a warranty issue. Rust is like cancer, take care of it NOW!

I've seen this on white trucks before, including my wife's Dodge, although not to this degree. For the life of me, I don't know why it happens to the white trucks only. My wife waxed her truck and that was the last we saw of it (more than 1 year since).

I do agree that you should take it back. I'd be very unhappy.

Yeah, I get this all the time on my white taco. I think it comes from the trees. Although I don't have bumps under mine (so maybe the OP's is actually rust?), they look identical to the OP's pictures. A good hard scrubbing and mine wash off. The more I park outside, the more of them I get. And you're right in that it doesn't happen with more wax on the truck (probably because whatever is causing the contamination can't stick to the paint).

What's interesting is if you google it, you'll find all sorts of issues with this on all vehicles. It's supposedly a problem on all of them, but you can only see it on the lighter colored ones. Some claim it's rail dust gets imbedded in the paint during shipping, but I just can't see that as being the problem with mine since it didn't appear for a few years (after I started parking outside). Maybe it's just the dirty air here in Calif. After the dealership quits covering it, clay bar is the next recommended course of action.

I would make them take it back. An aftermarket paint job is never as good as the factory.

havent taken it to the dealer yet waiting till next week. No way is it rail dust, shavings, ect it is metal rusting under the paint period. waxing clay baring it will only mask the effect until its really bad. We'll see what they try to bs me with bt they know me and know i know my shit so......
