Yesterday I drove through some sandy water, and the water went into my engine compartment. Today, I have a weird noise coming from under the hood. Let me describe it to you. First I thought it was the power steering, because it had that whine like power steering. I filled up that, and still got the sound. It sounds like a belt pully has some sand between it and the shaft possibly in the bearings somewhere. It's a humming, grinding noise. Didn't have any noise before yesterday.

    Thoughts?

Most likely is one of your pulleys, take a wooden broom stick and put one end on each of your pulleys and one end on your ear, it will act as a stethescope and you will be able to hear a grinding or whining when you get to the messed up one.

Anoother question. I am driving to the airport tomorrow, only about 45 minutes away, but I don't want to break down half way. Do you think this will cause me problems?

It could if you messed up a bearing, could be in the alternator, power steering, a/c, or fan. Try spraying some belt dressing on your belts and see if it helps any. O and wd 40 works too.

Belts, it will only take a sec to listen to all your pulleys with the stick though and maybe when you find the noisy one try some wd 40 on the pulley....

Yea I had a similar problem and it ended up being my tensioner pulley for my ac compressor belt. I wd 40'd it for months before the pulley finally gave up and I ended up just cutting the belt untill I could replace it all.

Didn't seem to do the trick. I'm gonna wing it, and hope it makes it for my flight tomorrow morning. On a side, note. It gets real loud when i give it some gas. Should be fun, and attention getting.

I could always paint, "Supercharged" on the side of it. That could help convince everyone. If it's written, it's got to be true.

Thanks for your help, I'll let you know how it goes and if I fix the problem.
