    Our unit is pushing 25 yo and have replaced several parts. It could be simple as low pressure on the freon. If you had a storm last night, it could have popped a fuse. Do you have ants? They love to get in the contactor. Could be the starter cap. If you leave it on with a bad cap, it could burn up the motor. If it's a heat pump, could be the defrost board. It can be bypassed until winter.

    Nothing wrong with that. That's what is there for.

    I know enough to be dangerous. My ex BIL is my guy. He stays busy and has helped me over the phone when he couldn't come out. Even sold me a condensor fan once that I couldn't buy elsewhere.
