Put in this bungee net for sleeping gear while waiting for my awning mounts to arrive.

    Tinted window for @Evanike

Doesn’t really show it well with all the dust and the side panel is open letting in light behind.

Black Bears can peel locked doors off a car, Grizzly Bears

In CA Black Bear areas (Eastern Sierra, SeKi, Yosemite) leaving a cooler in the car, let alone sleeping with it is not allowed for a reason.

I keep bear tags in the truck year round for a reason. No questions asked if you shoot one, just tag it and get to work. No closed season for black bears and only a short closure for browns in most areas.

I know. I am used to backpacking in the Sierra.

If you leave a cooler or fridge in a truck in or near Whitney Portal, it will likely have less attached doors when you return even if covered and not filled with salmon and honey.

I completely agree about car camping or backpacking where bears have not been trained to go after food:cheers:

I just didn’t want people to get the wrong idea.

Back on topic for gfc, my observations from a first trip:

The t-nuts for the extrusion are a tighter fit in the lower extrusion slots. Thicker finish on the powder coat maybe? Either way they will work.

Dust intrusion this weekend was nonexistent on the side panel area (silicone under bed rails prior to install ). The rear seal against the tailgate let in some dust. Potentially due to dust piling up at the seal, then opening and closing the rear hatch pushed the dust in. I need to seal the bottom and sides of the tailgate and the gaps in the front of the bed, but I already knew that. After that I can chase other holes and reasses how much the gfc lets in vs the truck itself.

The shell was noticeably cooler inside than the cab after sitting in the hot sun for a couple hours while out hiking. The roof panel seems to insulate to some degree as expected.

Without a platform, it is a big jump up into the sleeping area if you are short.

I was able to close the lid with all panels and mattress pieces in place and the side windows open. Rear window was closed. It might have been slightly more difficult. No sleeping bags were up there, it was a little warm to bring one.

I am a little worried about the tent fabric rubbing against the lower metal extrusion when closed.

I wish the lock bushings were already on mine. I noticed the finish suffering where the lock hits the tube.

The full access through the side panels is awesome. Might be my favorite feature so far.

Mattress was very comfy. I was worried about the seams between the panels, but didn’t even notice. Removing and putting panels back was simple.

This is correct. The striker plates just stick on to the tube. We'll be sending out new campers with these already installed and will be sending kits out to people who already have their campers. The adhesive will cover and seal the worn powdercoat. The wear plate has to attach to the tube, not the latch, otherwise the movement would still wear through the powder coating. The ones seen on instagram were not anodized but the ones we'll be sending out will be clear anodized just like the rest of the machined parts on the camper.

Its fine to remove those bolts to add the anchors? Those bolts are what is mounting the tent to the frame, am I correct?
