Installing Yakima Tracks on Camper Top

Is that price for each or a pair? You can always shorten them. I cut 2" off the 60" ones to stay clear of the thin areas near the edges of the shell.

I cancelled my order to switch for Thule as I wanted slimmer profile.

 

etrailer.com lists quite a few replacement parts. I’ve used them in the past for missing small parts. Shipping sucks a little if the order is small though.

 

For mounting mine it was handy to make a square jig out of lumber to center on the roof. This was much easier to make square in the shop and then center it with the brake and shark fin. Then just place the rails up against the jig, draw some lines and done.

 

So I have the tracks, I’m wondering what part numbers I need for the pillars ??

 

Someone please come drill my shell.

 

I’m looking to put some Yakima tracks on my ARE Z Series currently. What length should I go with? For reference I have a 2016 DCSB.

If anyone has a reputable link for the tracks and hardware I’d be forever in your debt .

Now I'm stuck finding a stainless M5x0.3 bolt or ask the seller to send me one...

With these tracks can I have the thread coming up out of the topper and the head of the screw inside the topper? I ask bc I have a Flippac and the inside of the roof is my sleeping area. Trying to keep as little hardware as possible in that area

 

Thread a regular nut on the bolt. Buzz off the extra thread with a Dremel cut off wheel. Then spin off the regular nut and spin on an acorn nut.

 

Anyone put d rings on the inside of there's when installing? Have pics?

 

Small picture frame hanging d-rings with a 10$ harbor freight net+ bungees, i stick my sleeping bag and pillows up there to keep them outta the way and dry out during the day. Also hang an led lantern, headlamp etc...

 

Ya I was totally thinking about using them for hanging lights and other stuff not a net much because sagging lol

Those are slick, i wish i found something like that. The d-rings i used were from the local ace and are just heavy duty enough for my use.

Not if you want the rack bases to be able to move along the tracks. Why not just use the product Yakima intended for use inside shells- capnuts https://www.etrailer.com/Accessories-and-Parts/Yakima/Y8810155.html
They are easy to use and designed so that you it won't hurt if you bump your head on them; I've unintentionally tested them in the back of my truck several times while getting dressed.

 

My camper has a hinge and flips open so what you hit your head on is what I’m sleeping on. So that’s why I was asking if there was a way to keep the hardware as flat as possible. These replacement parts look doable thanks

 

The thule rack tower bases have nuts shaped like this, they rotate to grab the upper inside of the track when you tighten them.

They lift up and out of the slot in the track if needed to move the bases. I have never needed to slide or move mine as the crossbars line up with my ski box, but i could see someone needing to for different applications.
