At work, I took a delivery order over the phone. The caller sounded about 13. At first I had a suspicion that the order was a prank. But I took the order for 2 pizzas anyway. I deliver to the street. As I turn onto the street where the house was, I see a middle school looking kid walk from the house to the end of the driveway. Since the kid was in the driveway by the street, I park my taco across the street with the truck unlocked still running since I was only moving 20 feet away. There were other punk kids up the street but I wasn't concerned. I was glad to see the kid actually at the house waiting instead of being a fake address or a vacant house. I walk up to kid (who walks a bit towards the house) and exchange greetings.
    Here's how the problem starts:
I hand him the pizza while stating the total.
He then hands me a tightly folded check.
In a hurry to get back to the store, I take a couple steps towards the truck but remember to verify the check.
By the time I had it unfolded, the punk had walked across the yard furthest from the truck.
The check was signed and totalled but name, address, account #, routing number and check # was covered with whiteout.
I say, "excuse me, I can't accept this. I'll need another check or cash"
he says "oh. I'll go get that then". He takes off with a quick shuffle around te side of the house towards another street.
My adrenaline and testosterone was surging. I bolted towards him 2 or 3 steps and stopped. In the past, other drivers have been written up or fired for threats or physical contact even if they were defending their money, life or pizza. My taco was still idling about 40 yards away and the other punks were skating and walking nearby it now. And the kid took the store's pizza, nothing that belonged to me.
I decided to play it smart and get to the truck and let him go. I sprinted back and jumped in the truck, threw it in gear and whipped around the corner after him. Apparently it scared him because he was hauling a$$ through a drainage dithering to the next street over.
No biggie, I would be over there in about twenty seconds. I stopped at the stop sign and had to wait on minivan drivers to complete their turns at the intersection (why are minivan drivers so slow?). What should have been a 20 trip to next street over took over a minute. Grr.
Story short, I couldn't find the little punk after scouring the neighborhood.

I returned to the store and explained to the boss. He was understanding and just made me file the police report. He said I did the right thing by not tackling the kid.

My next delivery went to the same neighborhood. About 25 minutes later I was back and turned onto the crime scene street. Guess who I saw?
The little punk saw my truck, pulled up his shorts, grabbed his hat and ran like an urangatuan. I put the pedal down and got about 30 yards from him but he hopped somebody's fence. I yelled and drove to the next street over but saw nothing. I completed the delivery and drove past the street multiple times that shift looking for him.

The good part: my girlfriend and her sister live three blocks away from the thief's street. I called her and asked her to discretely follow the kid matching the discription to his house and call me if she saw him by any chance. She said she would. Later that shift she called me and said she drove around and asked people in that neighborhood about the kid and his discription. She got a first name and a last name. I then called my gf's little sister, described the punk, stated the alleged first name and she told me the last name. I did a database search at work but couldn't find that name or the last name of anybody on the street. I then found him on facebook. The profile pic is a perfect match and and the little sister confirmed it. Later after work and the police report (deputy said the alleged name of the suspect sounds familiar) I got on a city website map that displays properties. I clicked through the houses on the street until I found an owner with a matching last name.

So now I found the facebook account, address and my brother goes to school with him. Maybe he needs a flaming pizza box of dog crap on his door step. Idk what do you think?
    Sorry about the rant.

So what's next? Waiting for the Police to take the next steps?

They should send him to your work and have him start cleaning everything. Won't happen again. lol

I'm not sure what's next. I'll give the deputy a call tommorrow and see if they can do something. I don't know if they can use hearsay from locals and I can't prove a name or address. It's just probable reason which isn't quite fact. Police like facts.
Idk. Maybe in the meantime I can scare the crap out of him by sending a creepy message from a bogus facebook account (using "pizza dude" as the name) stating where he lives.

I'm not too sure about that... That could be opening the doors for harrassment (by everyone) and I'm not sure if that would get me banned or not. If I get a chance to ditch this stupid phone and use a pc tommorrow, I'll take some screenshots of his response to a message from good ole "pizza dude" assuming I get a response. Might get a couple laughs who knows.

Holy crap! I delivered to a prison more relaxed than that.
Well there was this one time, we had a new guy take one of his first deliveries to the prison. I forgot to tell him to stay in his car when he arrived. He drove right past the guard tower and began walking to the front doors with a big hot bag. He had a few rifles pointed at him. Other than that there were cool as long as the customer was present

I haven't said anything yet. I need to have my brother set up a junk email account and create a facebook (he's not 18 yet so he doesn't have to worry about "cyber bullying") ridiculous, but my recent business law class has got me paranoid about everything :anonymous:
