It's kind of confusing what you really want done so just to clear everything up you want him to pay for the shipping from TN to CA then fix it then ship it back from CA to TN correct?

if thats what has to be done to fix it...i paid what he asked to have it done and paid shipping both ways. he sent it back with subpar work....he can do whatever he wants to fix it. if he wants to refund some money cause it wasnt done right its up to him....im not spending another dime for him to fix what should have been done right the first time...

firstly, if you wanted a 100% perfect and professional job you should have gone to a 100% professional shop, not a guy working with home depot materials out of his driveway. You should also have expected to pay quite a bit more. Since I live with the guy I've seen him paint a few grills and he always does the best job he can. Sometimes it's not perfect (like painting the inside of a decal red) but he does a damn good job. Every grill that ships out looks damn fine and it's unfortunate you're disappointed with yours.

finally, if you're worried about fingerprints on your truck I suggest you purchase a shipping container and store your truck on blocks in a nice safe locked shed since the real world is too much for you to handle. Discount services run out of driveways and garages aren't gonna be perfect.

then maybe he should advertise that hes running a service out of his driveway and that imperfections and fingerprints(that require repainting of the grill) are acceptable and the norm....he is charging for a service here....so everyone understands now that this type of work is acceptable because hes doing it out of his driveway....

not one place did aaron ever say that hes working out of his driveway and that some inperfections would be normal....if he had told me that i would not have a problem right now....arron set the prices, i didnt haggle him down and then expect perfect work....

Not to tread on anyone's foot, but the name calling isn't called for.

I think this is a legit situation. He's not being a "whiny bitch" and Blackhawke is certainly trying to accommodate. I'm not sure if money is tight on both sides, but I think a compromise could be met as far as the shipping.

Honestly, I would just pucker up and pay the shipping back out there, let him fix it and pay on his own to ship back to TN. But on a real note, both members should be discussing this in private til a good compromise is met. Just my $.02 on the matter, but lets act grown up people.

    1) There is nowhere stated that this is being done by a corporation or through any shop anywhere so you can't bring up the argument that it needs to be stated that he is running a service out of his garage.
    2) No one had said that imperfections and fingerprints are normal. In fact of all the grilles that he has done there have been only 2 people (you and a friends buddy) that have had problems so the fact that something was missed when is just unfortunate. The mistakes that have appeared aren't normal, and if they were then he wouldn't of done so many grilles, nor would he still be running this.
    3) Aaron obviously understands that you're upset and is trying to make a compromise. He has not come back and said anything about the shipping so everyone else chipping in their .02 can't say that he is or isn't trying to make a comprise, so far from what we understand, he is.
    4) Finally, there are multiple people here that are happy with his work and he has devoted a lot of time into this. It is obvious that he has slipped on your grille as well as another, however, the other person decided to just fix it up instead of trying to get Aaron to fix it. It is unfortunate that yours was messed up and now it is brought to his attention that he might need to spend just a tad bit more time inspecting it before it gets shipped out.

I'm sure Aaron will be more than willing to work out a compromise with you. I hope all goes well between both parties and that everything gets worked out. :)

    Well said

If you are referring to my post I understand that, however, it doesn't state anywhere in this thread that it is being done in any shop as well. Up until now anyone who wasn't physically around Aaron wouldn't know where it was being done unless they had asked him. Like I stated out of all the grilles that have been done yours and 1 other persons have had problems so obviously these mistakes are not normal.

lol i passed out because it was 5:11 am when I posted my last post (Im on vacation in Beijing). I understand you dont want to pay shipping back for something that is not perfect, but I have not dealt with a single vendor or company in my life that paid for shipping back to them for a mistake.

That being said, im more than happy to fix it for free and pay for shipping back to you, but you need to ship it to me.

PS if he wanted to handle this via PMs, he should have tried PMing me  I thought he wanted the world to see this so Im giving him a stage

Im pretty sure if you look at all the pictures I post on the first page, its easy to see I work out of my driveway. I do this on my spare time and charge no more than $50 per grille profit to help members out with satoshis. That being said, if you want a warranty with any type of thing, make sure it is guaranteed. I never guaranteed a warranty, but im still offering it.

    my .002

I honestly think a mountain is being made out of a mole hill. got_titan, just touch it up your self bro! Its not hard AT ALL and its cheaper than shipping. People make mistakes rather there pros or beginners. I think Aarons work is solid and should be commended rather than damned! Show some self competence and fix it your self...when making something custom flaws should be expected and I personally don't think the ones on your grille are a big deal. I know you said you paid for it to be done and done right the first time but this is a custom grille....its god damn near impossible to make something custom perfect unless its factory made but even then we all know factory stuff has flaws too

All I can say to this is, as soon as I get the money up I am going to have Aaron do my grill for me. I could care less if it is done in a bathroom or a driveway. I am supporting someone that is a huge part of Tacoma World and has gone out of his way to provide this service. I also believe that if there is a flaw in something and is so minor that only some anal retentive a@@ h#$% would post something in the open forum then it is good enough for me and my truck.

Keep up the good work Aaron and my grill will be to you as soon as I get settled here in Afganistan. I am going to send you a brand new BSP grill for you to do your magic on. I would send the one off my truck but it is a little far away from me for the next year or so.

I have many times, but it's not usually their default offer, you have to show/prove to them that the error is their fault, and if so, then it's up to them to cover the additional costs involved.

My opinion is that if the imperfections are of your own doing then you should cover the additional costs. From what I've seen of the pics, if I had this done and received that, I would also be requesting it be fixed. I realize that I seem to be in the minority here, but you are offering a service and with that service come expectations of quality work. Unless of course that expectation is not true and you send a disclaimer about that fact to the purchaser and they agree to move forward. This is not someone helping out a bro at wrench session, you're providing a service and have entered into the business world.

Personally I think it's great that someone offers up a service like this, but again, once it's offered there is a expectation of quality work on the part of the provider.

Hope I haven't stepped on too many toes, but that's my opinion anyway.

...and with my opinion, you can get double your money back if you're not satisfied... :D

arron, i never really wanted to bring this to a stage as you say but when i emailed telling you i was dissapointed in the grill and provided you with pics all you said was the paint come from home depot(flat black) and you can sand and repaint that.....does that sound like help to you? Asking me to repaint something i just paid you to do? did you ever offer me any other solution? NO...you didnt and i felt like you were done with the situation. So as far as keeping this private i did try that....

you guys need to kiss and make up already.

Aaron messed up, and got_titan wasn't happy about it.

They exchanges PMs and got_titan didn't respond to Aaron's PM. it wasn't until a few months later that you decide post it "on a stage" instead of PMing him back.

He offered to fix it, but requested you to pay to ship it back to him. Every other cost was going to be on him.

Either take that offer or pony up and touch your truck. The quick Home Depot fix Aaron suggested is not only cheaper than shipping it, but its faster. To me that's a no brainer.

If anything, just buy the paint and other materials and have Aaron refund you the $10 is cost to buy that stuff.
