Welcome!! Patagonia has a lot to offer when it comes to trails. Behind the Patagonia high school there's a road that leads to I think 2 trails. . We will probably have another big weekend camp out trip coming up in about a month or so keep a eye out for that!

My wife and I moved to Tucson about 3 weeks ago. Finally got settled in and had a weekend to explore. After some searching around online, I found a great website that had some detailed trail reports, along with .gpx files so we could make sure we knew where we going. I don't know anyone yet in Tucson that is also to wheeling so I had to give my wife some quick pointers and explain the ins and outs of spotting haha.

We ended up running Chimney Rock Trail from west to east. Redington road is rough, but I suppose that's to be expected out in the sticks. I'm not sure since it was our first time out here, but it may be worst than normal from the recent fires, and lack of brush to help with erosion control. Once on Chimney Rock Trail, we were all by ourself's. We saw not a soul for the next 3 hours 45 minutes. Some cool stops along the way and beautiful scenery as well. I will say, the Eastern side of the trail is fairly difficult and has some areas that most would not want to attempt without sliders and a decent set of skids. The brush is also thick and WILL reach out and touch your paint. All in all, it was great time, and some good wheeling. Tucson has made a great impression on us so far!

We ran the trail in a 2016 TRD-OR short bed, with a set of RCI steel engine / trans skids, and 265/75-R16 BFG KO2. Otherwise stock. I wont be running the eastern half again until I get a set of sliders on the truck. The rocks were a little too close for comfort in a few areas!

How many of ya'll have run this trail and what are your thoughts? Did you enjoy it? What else should we be looking at in the area? I'll start following this thread and hopefully we can make it out to some of the group runs sooner than later!

Chimney is just the tip of the spear, prepare yourself for more rough travels. Reddington has some fun stuff but Az is full of it.

Appreciate the info, @DukesTaco. Going to need those sliders before long. How would you rate Chiva in comparison to Chimney, Diffuculty wise? I read a trail report about Chiva and decided it was probably better to wait until I could do it with a group, and also get some sliders on the truck. From what I read, it was a notch up in difficulty. That waterfall is awesome!

It sounds like we need to plan another Tuc group trail run. I’ve missed the last few and we have a few new to our area folks I’d like to meet. Anyone interested?

Chiva Falls is fun! just went out a few weeks ago with @R@t_B@st@rd. You don't need sliders or anything with the right line. but should you screw up in your line choice things can start to get good real quick.

looking forward to hitting some trails with you!

Chiva is not bad as long as you know the trail and with a group and spotter in some places it's doable on a stock Tacoma with bfgs @freddy2923 did it but he is far from stock now. I have hiked it Mountain biked it and now wheel it but I do have a slight advantage.IMG_20170401_110917534.jpg here is Freddy skirting 3 fethers

There are higher elevations not too far away with great wheeling. I was really bummed to miss the Huachuca Mnts run. Hoping that comes up again soon.

I had to change my username. I was not getting notifications because I was a ratbastard.

Welcome to Tucson. I moved here from the east coast a little over two months ago. Fortunately I became aquainted with many of the local guys who subscribe to this thread. Everyone (including the 3rd gen haters :D) have been super helpful and welcoming. I'm also in the process of stepping up my armor game for the more aggressive trails. Feel free to reach out if you are trying to cruise reddington again. A few of us live in the neighborhood.
