Sweet to hear from someone running 87 octane. Do you want to run 91? What are disadvantages from running 87? so i can decide which i would prefer to run. I also hear 1.05 will have 93 as well. Any info on diff between 87 and 91 would be appreciated

I have a manual and it’s awesome to me, the drivetrain and feel of driving a manual transmission and body on frame truck is very similar to an old muscle car. Some clunks and creaks as the drivetrain engages, loads up, and unloads at a stop when I push the clutch pedal in. It reminds me of the old manual Mustangs I’ve owned. Just slower, a lot slower lol.

FN wheels' version of the TRD Pro 4Runner, TRD Pro front skid plate, Low Range Offroad 3/1 lift, JBA Offroad upper control arms, TRD Pro Shift knob, OV Tuned, 4.88s, 285/70/17 BFG KO2s

On 91 Octane there is a gain of 22 HP and 30 or so trq. The 8 octane has a small performance gain but really, it's the shifting changes, and changes to the Atkinson cycle tuning that makes the major difference. I run the 87 tune most of the time but every now and then I'll fill up with 3/4 93 and 1/4 87, change to the 91 Octane tune and have a little fun. Nothing like breaking the tires loose 1st-2nd. I am running 4.88 gears though so more trq to the ground than 3.91s...

I am looking forward to 1.05.

O BTW, there is a new TSB from Toyota that has some extensive changes to fueling and shifting. I think everyone with an Auto should be beating down the doors of their local dealer if they don't have the OV tune...

At first this was hilarious, then I was sad for all the TW members that relate here. Well played sir, so glad I clicked on this stupid 3rd gen thread (since I own a trusty 07).
