I thought the same thing until changing it and taking a day or two to get used to it... kinda sucks as you can't really use the oven or have to watch when you dry clothes... also helps to keep all the doors to all the rooms closed and such...

Yea, I have some short sleeve cool dri shirts that I got from 5Ks that got a couple oil stains or grease stains on them and have held onto those stains for many washes... oh well, those have been yard work shirts now.

Oh hell no. 70 is as high as I'll turn mine. I absolutely refuse to be uncomfortable in my own home, regardless of ANY factor.

Capacitor fixed it. $16 and the AC works again.

Awesome, glad that fixed the issue for you man!

I need to rewrap my outside pipes on my AC pretty soon, the wrap on there is starting to fall apart.

Seems like it's always the capacitor. I'm going to get the spec's off mine & keep a couple on hand.

72 is probably the avg temp people set it to in the summer. Dunno how you deal with 78 on the regular being home.

    Yea, 72 is prob avg...

But just google it... 78 is a recurring temp for what a thermostat should be set to during summer months when you are home. I know it sounds crazy, but I have had it that way the past two days and I have not noticed a different between having it there and 74 from the beginning of the week.

78 is too hot for me personally. 75 is as warm as I’ll go with some fans on. I think you are right though, people probably can’t tell the difference between a few degrees in some cases.

My wife sometimes turns it up to 74 when she leaves for work (I think just to piss me off). When I wake up, or get home, I can instantly tell when she's turned it up. Maybe I'm just used to the station I work @, where it's 66 to 67 year round.

I've got this weird electric plan and my bill is cheaper if I use more electricity. May/June I used 950KW and my bill was $90. Last month, I used 1150KW and my bill was $33. It sure is nice keeping it at 68 degrees at all times.

It’s all about that Ecobee. It’s super easy to configure, and will adjust to meet your comfort level, yet save energy when no one is home.

You have one, how do you like it? I have just energy and they were offering me a ecobee4 at a discounted price when I renewed my contract.

The thermostat is great. Alexa is fucking stupid. She’s useless.

Thermostat does what it’s advtised to do, and it was easy for my wife to learn.
