One of my coworkers have one of those weird ones where if he gets between a certain kwh he gets like $60 off his bill, but if not, his bill is super high... I sat and did the math with excel and compared mine vs his and mine was actually cheaper last year than his averaged out per month even though I may have paid more a couple months during the summer... electric plans are one of the most confusing plans

How do you like the ecobee? Did you buy it or compare it to the nest before purchase?

Sort of. Its 7 cents up to 1000kw but I get charged for 999kw no matter what. Once I hit 1000kw, my rate drops to about 3 cents for all of my usage, not just the amount over 1000. My apartment is pretty inefficient as far as insulation goes. So Summer and Winter had been brutal on my wallet. $200+ for a 1 bedroom apt was too high. I averaged 900kw keeping it warm in the summer (78deg) and cool in the winter (65 deg). The couple weeks of Spring/Fall was the only time I could save and the bill was still $75-100(shitty rate from Reliant). So, I went to a plan from Gexa that was based strictly on my high months and just figured I'd be as inefficient as possible. Sorry y'all for the rolling black outs, but I need to use up the electric to keep my bill cheap!

Just about as crazy as my provider charging me more to use green energy.

There’s a reason they charge more for green energy, and it’s not because it’s more expensive from a cost standpoint.

Because they make less money for their bottom line?

Has to do with the government. Not really a topic for discussion on TW.

I think that’s legal. Why wouldn’t it be?

I know in some states it isn't and I thought at one point it wasn't in Texas, but I am wrong, looks like it is completely legal in Texas.

From what I understand, a few states have totally ban it, but every state has some restrictions in effect.

Yea, obviously Cali is one of those.

But it looks like Texas has some Tax exemptions for having a system... Looks like I may be looking at building a system for my back yard to be able to water my back yard area.

    I doubt very much?

The main cost would be the initial cost of the materials.

https://morningchores.com/rainwater-harvesting/ and most parts can be bought from Lowe's or Home Depot really.

Really? That's awesome! I am going to have to see if my local water department does anything like that...
