Front mount to carrier bearing cross member. In pic you can see the member has been gusseted to stiffen it up. Picture doesn't show that this cross member has been boxed in up top as well for even more support. (top plate added after this picture was taken)

i had the budbuilt trac bar on my 3G. it's really a design for the 2G but we massaged it to fit. the weld on bracket (if you can even stretch to call that a bracket) was entirely not sufficient in every way: not strong enough, not designed well, not enough metal, etc etc. anyway it tore a hole in my axle housing from normal on-road usage. i love the performance of these bars and am seeking a solution through fabricating a big custom gusseted bracket one day.

here was the drama, really bummed me out..

Those look like shit man! That’s a bummer. There are a ton of ways to do traction bars. I’m not sure why the Mfg went with that one.

for sure... but when i was in the market for it I contacted Gadget at URD. he doesn't have one for 3G and recommended Bud's, and there was no other in the market that i've found. if i could do this again i would have just gotten the non-weld version. the weld-on is just the worst idea ever. i just didn't know how weak the housing was for this. it's all fixed up now, but man do i need that bar back there.

A lot of guys say we don’t have the power to need them. Go do a burnout in wet grass with your diff locked and get back to me lmao. We have “weak” leaf packs to begin with. These trucks could absolutely benefit from trac bars. If there’s any demand for the ones I make l (granted they work properly) I may do some extra sets or post up the prints for them. We will see how it all plays out. Hopefully what works for me will work for you. I don’t wheel this truck so they’ll be more of a street/trail setup. I would not take them to king of hammers or anything. What do you do with your truck?

You think the stretchy 3d gen 3rd member studs are any better? Weld on brackets when done right is beefe... your welder just didnt know what they were doing.

i don't know if the bracket is any better, but my welder is a pro. the weak link in this case was the axle housing that was welded on. there's just not enough meat to carry the load. we suspected the bracket may give at some point but we didn't know it would take a chunk out of the housing as well.

The procomps say they are only up '05-13? What's up with the '14-15?

For the guys considering pro comps:

Fair warning. You are doing yourself a disservice. They are single point and will bind under any travel. From my experience, it will begin to be noticeable after about an inch of travel either way. Hard on bushings. If
I remember correctly the pro comps are also dual poly mount so any flexion will be at direct expense of the bushings.

I would not put them on my truck if they were free (and the right color!)

I hate the idea of taking such a capable truck (Tacoma) and limiting it with improper parts.
