I'm totally sub'd. Even got the wife convinced that we "need" a teardrop camper. Excited to follow this and get ideas for my eventual build.

I bought a "media receiver" for the trailer yesterday from walmart for $19.95... Its a cheap Dual that doesnt have a CD player, but it has USB and bluetooth so thats all i cared about... I honestly can not remember the last time i touched a CD...

Anyone know where i can get a cheap deep cycle car battery to use in the trailer?

Had a productive day working on the trailer!

    • Extended the tongue
    • built a cage to hold the cooler
    • attached the tongue box
    • painted/sealed the new cabin storage box & made the lid a little easier to get on/off

Thinking these are going on the trailer to help with the bounce. Should help keep things in place when driving down the trail, probably help prolong the life of my gear also....

Trailer tongue almost complete! Need to gusset the bottom where i extended the tongue and then i can run the trailer wires to the front! Should be the last 2 things needed and it will be done!

Also need to pick up some 1/2"x1/2" square tubing and sheet metal to build the fender flares. Got the measurements mocked up already so just need materials.

Once these 2 things get done its towable! Then it coming back to finish up running wires to all the electrical components, panels on the inside, and cabinets!

I honestly do not remember, my mock up drawings are sitting in the trailer right now. Im thinking it was 13"??? Not sure though.

I plan to build my own though, got a little something special in mind for them.

Got the new grill in, a bit larger than i hoped but it should work out nicely. Now to just build cabinets around it...

    Cool progress.

Just want to point out that the front window of the trailer, even if partially blocked by the cooler, etc, looks as though it is going to be susceptible to rock strikes from your tow vehicle. Have you considered that, and looked at creating some sort of shield/deflector?

I dont think it will be an issue. It hasnt been broken yet.

But it is a concern when its muddy and im picking up and throwing rocks around, probably not driving fast in those conditions. Im hoping that the cage will stop the big stuff though.

i got 4 24" stabilizer jacks for the trailer on the way. Between the jacks and the leveling pads i shouldnt have any issues leveling the trailer.

Also picked up some hatch support springs, hope these work...

And finally a 3 gang switch to use on the outside of the trailer, also should work nicely to plug an existing hole in the side of the trailer.

Yes! I still need to get that! I was planning to head out to tyler on monday to do some work but i ran into a bit of trailer problems....

I trusted my step dad to do the "structural" welds, while i practiced on the other stuff. Well... found out later that the welds on the bottom were never done and a trailer with no shocks bouncing on the highway results in broken welds... Had i known i would have never put it on the road until everything was welded all the way around.

$300 & 4 hours later its back on the road...

    Bonus....
He welded on my tongue jack for me for free!

I bet you will be inspecting all the welds now won't you....
