Hey guys, been lurking here for a bit, just registered, gonna take the plunge to a Taco! :D
I went to my local Toyota Dealer, and I was looking for a 4 Cylinder 4x2 PreRunner Access Cab, since Toyota has the model on their website. Why a 4 cyl? MPG. But when I asked the dealer, he said that there was no such thing.....and that the only 4 cy's they had were 4x2. Im fine with 4x2, Im only gonna be hauling a dirtbike, but when I looked at the 4 cyl models it was horrendous. I hated that look. It was the low slung, weeny type of truck. I absolutely love the V6 Access Cab look, and Im just wondering if what the dealer said was right, and I have to get a V6 to keep me from gouging my eyes out, or he was just spewing BS. I saw a Taco with the V6 look that was PreRunner and Im pretty sure it was a 4 Cyl. Im not sure what to make of this.
    Thanks in advance.

Will be selling mine or trading it in soon. 4x4, 2.7 access cab. Love the looks, don't like the power on the Colorado passes :( Was great when I lived in Massachusetts though. :)

My dealer (Centerpoint, AL) had 3 on the lot --a silver, white, and I went with the speedway blue. The only thing with the 4cyl. prerunner access is you don't have the auto trans. option.

    the 2.7L 2TR-FE 4 cyl comes in

Regular Cab 4x2 (5 Lug) 4 Speed Auto and 5 Speed Manual
Regular Cab 4x2 (6 Lug PreRunner) 5 Speed Manual
    Regular Cab 4x4 (6 Lug) 5 SpeedManual

5 lugs are the lower, better suspension package :D, while 6 lugs, in either 4x4 or 4x2 are the higher suspensions.

depending on the region, they could be pretty rare. you should be able to order them. down where im at, theyre a bunch of them on the lot lol

Thanks guys. The local dealer here kinda spooked me into thinking they didn't exist. Just out of curiosity tho, is there a significant advantage in getting a V6? I can only imagine the power would be great.

V6 has more power, optional Auto, and fog lights. You can also add TRD packages. Cons is higher upfront cost, maintenance, and mpg. Make sure you get the truck you want, not what everyone here tells you to get.

    (get the 4cyl :) )

I have a V6. I only see three advantages for me.

    1) it was an available engine on the double-cab long-bed
    2) much more power when towing
    3) much more power when some inconsiderate jerk decides to floor it to close the gap when I am merging onto the highway in said gap. (My philosphy is that if I make you step on the brake while merging I screwed up. If you floor it to block me from merging into what used to be a large gap, you are a stupid !@#$!.)

They are really rare here in socal. I got one as well, from San Diego though. I have only seen two others around here. Before this one I wanted an access cab prerunner with the sport pkg., every dealer told me they don't exist. I had to fly to Sacramento to get it.
