Hey guys, still on the fence of whether or not I should get the 4.88 gears in my taco. I would love to be able to feel it ahead of time. Is anyone local in socal (I'm in the IE) have a MT with 4.88 that would graciously allow me to take it for a spin? You can drive my stock truck and remember what stock gearing felt like for nostalgia :) We can have a mini taco meet up for those that want to join and can swap taco stories and mods over some good tacos (lunch is on me!). Or if there is a regular or upcoming taco meet up that i'm unaware of coming that you'll be let me know, I can head there too. Or if your not local but have them installed in your MT, please post up your thoughts/reviews! Thanks guys.

No problem, just figured you might get a better result posting close to home.

If you have a 2018 It depends what tire size you will use. If 34" 35" tires then id say go 4.88 . Not best comparison but I drove a members truck on here a 07 MT 4x with 4:56 with heavy 35's and it had great power, gas milage not so much, but it was the 4.0 and heavy race non dot mud tires.

My tires are only about an inch or so bigger then stock. I also owned a 2nd Gen MT taco before trading it in for my current one. I really loved that 4.0l engines power delivery. Guys on here with 4.88 in the mega thread about seem to not lose much of any mileage. Armor/huge tires/mods are definitely a different story though.

Really I just miss having useable power from the get go rather then having to let the engine wind up. That’s why I want 4.88, and also I could see myself going up to 33” tires in the future as well.
