Well then, I have a Tacoma DBL Cab, to keep this short...

I always do my own oil changes/filter etc.. On occasion if I'm super busy I take it to the dealership sometimes. Point is, I have been working like mad lately and my dad has been off for about 2 weeks (Vacation).

So he wants to surprise me and decides to take my truck in for an oil/filter change while I'm at work. Anyways, my dad takes it to Budget Brake/muffler

    First mistake.

The guy charged my dad $90 (Canadian) when the Toyota Dealership here charges ($42). Next he said the truck takes almost 9 liters of oil.....

Seriously.... 9 liters of oil........My poor baby... my poor truck...

Good thing the shop where it was taken to was 8 minutes or so down the road. Anyways, I drained the oil, took off the fram oil filter they used...

Put on my Amsoil oil filter, Mobil1l full synthetic oil and laughed it off with my dad. Lesson learned, for him and me, some independent shops who don't know what they're doing shouldn't even be near cars/trucks. Seriously, basic oil change cannot be done properly? Man.... alive...

I think my truck should be okay right? No real harm or damage was done?

I know for a fact most of these little quick change joints hire with basically no experience requirement. Then they provide little if any training or supervision. They're paying minimum wage for maximum profits. Same theory on the oil/filters they use...minimum price for maximum profit.

Good to put the word out there....guess there's a market for them...but friends shouldn't let friends go there.

I know when I worked for Toyota I replaced two Taco engines because Wal-Mart wouldn't put a gasket on the plug.

My truck usually takes around 10 gallons of oil. If I have left over, like 1 gallon or so, I just empty it into the gas tank;):p:p:p:p

Sounds to me that you may need to call them up and talk to the manager. And give him a good @ss chewing over this, and see what they can do to make it right. And if he doesn't make it right, than find out who his boss is and talk with them.
Don't let these sh*tty businesses get away with this, these places make all the good places look bad.
