A few mods here and there and counting....
Had some best buy gift cards/store credit so i picked up a Otterbox Venture 65qt. Came with a dry tray and detachable bottle opener. Purchased the cutting board/divider accessories separately. Can't wait to try it out.

Caliraised bumper LED light bar. Combo spot/flood. Instructions were so-so, but you really didn’t even need them. So easy to mount, wire harness is nice and easy. The whole thing was a breeze! BE9BF20B-9A9A-4795-B327-004EF46E7B39.jpg

If you're get a hastings trans filter and change that out also no sense even doing it and running the fresh clean fluid through a used dirty filter

Nope. Probably not necessary / not a good idea for this application.

Filter package may say to oil it for "best results" but the stock foam isnt oiled and the electric pump you are connecting the filter to would most definitely have future issues if you accidentally over oiled it.

Let alone the air sensors post pump are not used to oiled air being pushed past them and will make them fail faster.

Its a $13 filter if it goes bad from not oiling it just replace it.

Here's my feelings about those types of filters. They are a performance product designed to increase airflow while attracting more particles. To perform as designed, you add a small amount of oil to trap particles which in turn trap more particles. You are also supposed to clean it often, since more air and more particles means more cleaning.
That being said, we aren't using this as a performance part. It's replacing a badly designed foam filter that can disintegrate and jam up the air pump. It functions at engine shutdown and only needs enough air to pump out the cylinders. In my case, about 2.7 liters. So, we really aren't asking this filter to do much more than keep out debris during short operating cycles. For this application it's overkill, but much better than hoping the OEM foam filter stays in one piece. If you didn't reinstall the cover, then you can spot check for dirt and clean/replace as needed.
I use the OEM cover, since I was concerned that water or dirt would settle on the open filter. No issues so far, so the new filter is moving enough air to keep the ECU happy.

Should be fine to use it. The manufacturer won't over oil their product. May be good to wipe it down to get off any excess. I think mine had a tiny sheen to it, so maybe it came oiled or siliconed. It's hard to tell unless you know what oil tastes like ;)
