need help with new rims

My son has a 2012 regualr cab 4x4 tacoma. i just put new tires on it, 26/70/16. he wants new rims for his birthday. the problem i am having is that im not sure what offset to get. i called one of the wheel stores and they said that the stock steel wheels are a +30 offset and advised me to go with a +15 or +20. i have looked online and it says that the stock steel wheels are -17 offset. we are wanting to stick out of the fenders slighty to give it a wider stance but not to far. any adive or pictures maybe so i know what to get?? thanks

 

You need 16x8 rims with +0 offset and 4.5" back spacing. Many rims come in that configuration. Try to also stay with rims that have a 106mm (106.2 usually) center bore.

If the hub bore is 108, do you need the hub ring to reduce it two millimeters? Asking since I plan on putting wheels on my '17 that have a hub bore of 108.

 

Some say yes, some say no.

My last truck I ran wheels with a center bore of 108, no hub centering rings, and never had an issue.

They're cheap insurance though, I'd recommend getting them just in case.
