Could this be true? When you get the paperwork for the repair, make sure you send us any part numbers you see. I really know of no newer/improved model; when I price checked thru my Toyota connection, the PN is the same as I've posted earlier.

Well mine just went in for Broken Fan. Part on Back order. Luckily they put me in a Tacoma Offroad 4x4 as a loaner.

Tech said common issue on 2016 & 2017 models. Have not seen this occurring on 2018 models

It's the same. I have a new one in the box and there's no difference from the broken one.

Mine bit the dust two weeks ago. I spoke with the service manager today. He told me that there is 4,100 people nationwide waiting for the blower fan. He said that there would probably be a recall.
He also said that Toyota has redesigned the part.

Certainly is good news. I have no way of confirming it here yet, but will work on it.

From a number of other threads, we know there to be a few Toyota Techs as forum members. I don't recall their IDs, but if someone knows one of these folks or has some solid Toyota contacts, maybe get them to weigh in on this issue.

Robin Williams one said "you can fool some of the people some of the time, and jerk the rest off." Even in less populous regions of the US mainland, Toyota Dealers can't really fail to be aware of this problem (so guess what category of the Robin Williams quote they're pulling on you). Did they tell you they'll just take one of the several dozen spares off their shelves and put it in right away?

What DID they tell you regarding the repair of this issue on your Truck?

As an owner of 3 previous Taco's I was just as surprised when the thing broke in the parking lot of IKEA. My truck is under warranty for another 8 years so I didnt really argue or add in anecdotal quotes to the service adviser. They replaced the entire AC unit from top to bottom and its been like new since.

While I appreciate the quote, I have no idea what the purpose or context is in this thread. but

Just had mine go and am in Texas. Called Rockwall Toyota and they offered me a rental Tacoma. Told me 4-6 weeks for the part. The TRD doesn't have the mods that I have come to like. I declined the rental and used JB Weld. I pulled the blower blade off, JB welded the cracks and JB welded it onto the motor shaft. Fixed. I have AC again, but am also going to accept the replacement when available.

Nice of them to at least give you an estimated time frame. All I got was, "We don't know how long but we will call you as soon as it comes in."

Same. I called again today and was told "We said we will call you. Also no loaners, but I can rent a car for $35 a day."

VDO Blower motor PM9297 does not fit. I bought one from AutoZone for $70. Fan is too tall and rubs. Also the screw holes do not line up.

I'm in houston texas. Mine went out, went to dealer and they fixed the next day. They replaced the part from the paperwork they provided. its back to normal now. Its up in the 100s now in houston. I would talk to the service manager or service director especially if your truck is still under the warranty period.

Does the paperwork include a part number? If so could you post it up so we can compare/verify with what we currently know? Glad that you're back in action without too much hassle or delays.

Mine went out 3 days ago, just got out of the dealer here in houston and 3-6 weeks for the new part, F*#K!! With regular over 100 degree temps. So after looking here I just finished rigging mine together and its blowing at high setting now. My plastic come cracked where everyone else’s did and the center inter cone was completely stripped out. So what I did was hose clamp the outside Center to hold it together and then I double wrapped sand paper 220grit around the metal insert that goes in the plastic cone and shoved the two pieces together. So there’s stiff friction pressing the two against each other. Been driving for about an hour now on high and no issues so far, dont know how lon it will hold, but it’s the best “fix” I could do for now. I was originally going to bedd the metal rod into the stripped plastic cone with rifle stock bedding compound for a sure fix and fit but the dealer told me if I use any kind of epoxy they wouldn’t replace it under warranty. Bullshit of course but I hate going there and wanted to get in and out when the new part comes in.
