Never off road, removed any parts or hit any thing.
Why do I have this gap between the metal fender(s) and the plastic bumper?
How is it attached? clips, screws, rice spit?
Any exploded view or pictures of the attachment method from the ones that removed the bumper?

    Right side.

There has to be a small gap if they touch minor flexing of the two separate parts would chip paint.

Quickly read the thread title as "Why am I gaping?". Had to double check what forum I was on.

Looks like the hood is also out of alignment (too far forward) compared to the fender.
Both left and right side photos have a big gap between the two at the front, compared to the gap at the top.
    Doesn't seem right.
Sorry I can't help with your original question but I just feel like being a pain in the @$$ today. You're welcome.

The bumper cover attaches near the fender with this black panel (red arrows)...it's mostly a friction fit. It's held on by the headlight bolt and [I think] two plastic body rivets. If that little panel isn't perfectly aligned, you'll get the gap.

Left side of my truck was perfect, but the right was like your truck...undid the headlight bolt (yellow arrow), and a little tweak fixed it right up.

    For reference (not my truck):

Would this screw pull it more in line?

Funny you post this. My passenger side looks exactly the same. The only difference is my bumper pops out of the clip daily and has to be pushed back in.

Where is the clip? How does it attaches to the fender and plastic bumper? How is the bumper held in place?
How much do I have to remove (and fuck up something else) to get to the Mr. clip?

Here's the vid I scraped the pic from...it's a headlight replacement, but shows the gist of how to get to that area.

Might as well swap to a steel bumper at that point.
