That "bad rep" seems to exist only amongst those who don't actually own/drive one. It's pretty comical, actually, though annoying, too.

I remember when something like this got posted and the community actually educated someone rather then blasting them and calling them names. When fellow off-roaders actually helped each other rather than beating them into the dirt as hard as they could.

True, but the guy knew it was illegal, and boasted as much, so he's not uneducated. That's the difference.

 

But you can also be a stand up person and not throw rocks just because there's a rock available.

Perhaps he does know and did it intentionally. That mean he can't be educated further on why this practice is bad?

I agree...

Dude knew that he was "breaking the rules" and gloated about it, because "getting to the good water" somehow justified his behavior. That said, giving the benefit of the doubt that he wasn't being malicious and educating him on proper land use should have been the first response (and was by Tread Lightly, etc.).

If the dude was like "fuck all y'all, I do what I want!" after that and refused, then it's scorched earth time...

Typically I’d agree that these witch hunts are uncalled for and that maybe we should teach these people what they should do and all that. This is one of those moments I say let the mobs gather to an extent (leave families/employment out of it).

Obviously he knew it was illegal cause he bragged about it, so he deserves some of what is coming his way.

I understand he bragged, but did he REALLY deserve what happened? I'd argue not.

Its the world we live in. How many people these days make stupid decisions just to gain likes/views on Instagram/Facebook without thinking about the consequences first?

Only a matter of time until all trails are shut down regardless of those following the rules.

 

I suggested we let him keep his job. That’s unnecessary to get the employer involved. If someone did. Because this isn’t the biggest deal. Any half decent employer would be like fuck off
