Pulled the trigger on an ARE CX and a Prinsu Toprac.

Happy overall. Wish the canopy color was a little closer to truck’s. It’s not terrible, but noticeable, especially so in overcast conditions.

@Anferknee thanks for the info. I am pleased with the paint job on mine. The bolts have stayed torqued down. I re-tightened them once for good measure, just in case the seals had developed a permanent set. I also waited a couple months before using any mechanized car wash, because the guys explained to me that the paint needed time to fully cure, or something like that.

Did you install the roof rails yourself or was that from factory?

Shucks.... Was hoping to hear it was done afterward, since I'm currently looking at a truck with a Leer topper w/ no rack. I've been told no go on installing a rack post factory. Thanks for the reply!

Where’d you hear that? I’ve added racks post factory on every topper I’ve ever owned. And I know of numerous people who have done the same.

Reputable local shop. Said you couldn't still through fiberglass or it would crack.
I'd love to hear otherwise! All I want to haul is surf rods, nothing crazy...

I can only speak for my own personal experience. And I’ve had zero issues adding roof racks myself.

Doing this will likely void any warranties if you purchased the shell new.

Plenty of people do it. You just can’t put something like a rooftop tent on it. For light items, it should be fine.

Why not a RRT? Plenty of people do it

I'm not completely disagreeing with you. I too am a little skeptical of loading a RTT, and people, onto a non-HD rated topper. But there are tons of folks that do just that with seemingly positive results. Mind you the manufacturer is likely not going to recommend you put a RTT on a non-HD top, just as they may tell you you can't add an aftermarket roof rack :notsure:

Sure you can. Lots of people do it successfully, myself included. Two different shells so far, one with self-installed tracks and the other with factory installed tracks, same exact setup.

Hey I’m looking into buying the same top, would you mind posting a couple more pics? Maybe if the inside as well?

Which tracks did you put? Any pros and cons between brands?

I ordered some proline tracks first, because they were cheaper. I ended up returning them, they didn't seem as low profile as the other brands. Used Yakima tracks, install was fairly simple.
My new shell has factory-installed Thule tracks. The Yakima and Thule tracks are identical, and can even accept the other brands' track nuts. All my old Yakima stuff is mounted to these current Thule tracks

Does anyone with a leer 100 series know if sliding Windoors can be added later down the road?? Or are you set with what you buy?

There’s a guy that swapped to windoors on an ARE V series. I would think the same could be done on a Leer.

Still got my sliders if you anyone broke theirs. The easiest way to check is look at the inside frame. My ARE side windoors, and previous windows, sandwiched the shell, only held by running short screws through the inside frame to the outside window frame. Took me an hour on one side, 30 on the other after I knew what I was doing.
