I've been having an very intermittent misfire when hot and under a hard acceleration or pulling a hill. Changed out my spark plugs and found carbon tracing on one of them. actually those LED H4s would work great in a reflector housing. If you notice the Low Beam clusters have a small shield that stops light from hitting the high beam reflector. All good LED H4 replacement bulbs come with that now. Any one without that feature is going to blind everyone.

 

Anyone stuck with a set of the older LED H4's can make them serviceable by doing this mod:

Takes a little futzing, but it worked well for me. Beats trashing the OPT7's that I had purchased.

 

This isn't exactly true. Yes those shields help, but it doesn't solve the initial problem with LEDs. The problem is the size of the LED emitter compared to a filament. The LED is MANY times larger than a single filament, so it cannot be as focused in a reflector. LED emitters are getting smaller and smaller, but they will never be as small as a filament. This is why you don't see production LED headlights using just reflectors, they use some sort of projector lens to help focus the light.

 

Installed a Dakota Digital SGI-5E today to calibrate my speedo. Time to go play around.

Exactly the reason I liked these. Still LED but has the split bar for high and low beam. I plan on testing them to make sure there’s not going to be an issue and if there is I won’t be running them.

 

Yeah I got that, you don't need it with the other harness though, that's for people with euro style pigtails

Can you flat tow a Manual Transmission RWD truck? I was told you can't because the output shaft is still spinning, but I have heard conflicting opinions otherwise.

As in conern for racking up mileage? Odometer will still count while flat towing but what happens with newer vehicles with electronic odometers & speed sensors? Does it still count with key off? But if you disconnect the battery then it can't right?

 

Yes. Automatic is a different story. Has to be in Neutral, can't be pulling it very far and not very fast. Something like 15 miles under 25 MPH.

 

Got it. There’s a thread about a guy who flat tows his T100 something like a couple thousand miles regularly.

 

Is it doable? Not concerned about mileage - moreso damage to the transmission.

 

Plenty of people flat tow jeeps and trucks behind RV's all the time. Won't do any damage in neutral on a manual trans. It's like coasting, forever.
