So. I'm taking my truck in to the dealer tomorrow for a transfer case leak.

Should I flash back to stock and then have them update to 0B04 and then wait until Mat releases 1.05 before going back to the OVTuned life?? Or just stick with 1.04.

Having the truck officially updated and documented by Toyota has gotta be worth something.. but at the cost of not being tuned for the next month until 1.05 comes out.

    Decisions decisions...

I drove mine right away. Make sure you wear sweat pants for the erection you get when you first step on it.

Got mine running on 91 1.04 today. Definitely a difference, the truck coasts everywhere , ETC mode seems more for towing now , and drive is just drive. got a couple of mpg too. How the truck should have came from the factory for sure.

And then we have 93 coming up (not) soon enough. My area doesn't even have 91 octane, just 93 so 1.05 will work well for me. I'm hoping all the improvements help towing my camper as well. My SSP and SB have helped quite a bit overall but I'll be happy to remove them and get back to "stock."

What's the normal turn around time to complete tuning? Say from the moment you hit "pay".

Assuming one is fast sending info into ovtune.

For me, the whole process took about a week. 2 days to get the cable and about 5 days (3 business days) to get the registration key. Tune files came the same day.

@OVTune , now that things are coming together, any possibility of a hand held unit?

FN wheels' version of the TRD Pro 4Runner, TRD Pro front skid plate, Low Range Offroad 3/1 lift, JBA Offroad upper control arms, TRD Pro Shift knob, OV Tuned, 4.88s, 285/70/17 BFG KO2s
All of this is 100% unacceptable. I think you are being too critical of upshift. You should not have to use S Shift. Do you have larger/heavier tires or something? If so, I regear is needed to compensate for gear loss not a tune...

Yeah my days of driving in S mode to stay in the 2k range are over. I’m fine with it dropping to 1k so long as it’s holding speed, it’ll downshift when I need it to instantly...

Coming from someone who drove some prior tune versions and stock almost entirely in S mode...

So there's been something unusual happening in my tuned 1.04 91 truck lately.. Anytime it's in the 1000-1300rpm range lugging along after upshifting too early the truck feels like it starts to misfire. I would equate the feeling to having a bad coil/plug and the truck kind of stutters a bit. No CEL or misfire codes stored maybe it's a bad batch of 93 gas I got? Had the tune for about 1500 miles now and never had the issue before. It runs fine from 1300rpm to redline just bottom down low it acts up. It's not just my driving I had my girlfriend drive it and I noticed the feeling from the passenger seat as well.

I've only had my truck for about a week, and I've been trying to read up on this OVTune as I've had several people recommend it. A few questions:

    1. So with the new 1.05 version coming, it is for 91 octane. So this means if I get this tune, then I have to use 91 octane fuel?

    2. Once you purchase the tune, do you get free updates or do you have to purchase updates as well?

    3. The Tactrix extension cable is sold out online. Can another brand be used?

    4. I'm also assuming I need some sort of OBD2 ot USB cable in order to hook into computer

    5. I'm also assuming this voids the factory warranty.

    Thanks for all your help.

You'll get a tune for 87, 91 and, from the sounds of it, 93. You pick what you want to use.

    Future deployments included

    Not recommended.

I just went on the Tactrix site and it says there are 763 available.

The Tatrix is the OBD2 plug. People call it a cable. It's not. It looks just like an OBD2 plug. The cable that attaches it to your laptop (micro USB) is included.

It cannot be detected by the dealer.

    What TFly said.

Super Unleaded is 93 octane where I live in Cincinnati so that makes 1.05 great for me.
