That could be her start! I'm trying to get her comfy with the keg smoker, then see if she can cook a chuck roast or something .

Well, kind of. I wouldn't tell her to go grab it and cut her own PB&J sandwich . I checked her hand placement before each slice and we had practiced the motion. Besides, mom and I kept a watchful eye. She did good, though!


I told her that once she gets all the way through that she could just slide it to the side with the blade of the knife. Look at that face when she successfully pulled the maneuver off. It's the small victories of parenting...

 

That is awesome. My 5 yr old surprises me every day with what he is capable of.

You should have her roll the distal phalanx part of the fingers under her knuckles. Never too young to teach proper technique.

Her dad doesn't even have proper form for fingertip protection. She needs a better instructor.

Had two pork tenderloins I was going to smoke, but the weather forced me to grill them. Not pic worthy, but good.

Ha, had the exact same experience with some boneless “ribs” with same results. We’re very tasty just nothing to look at.
