that ticking issue

really didnt know toyota was in the pron industry too haha.... lol... but how the hell did they fix it anyway.... i thought it was just something u had to live with?? lol

 

lol me either haha... but what was causing that o ring to make that sound...??? was it hitting on to something or was something hitting it??? cuz its a consistent sound...

 

It sounds like a band aid. Does it work? This ticking is driving me insane. What valve is it for. IAC??

 

I just traded my '10 sport/auto for a '10 off road/manual, and guess what - the tick is gone! The sport truck was really quite annoying from 1,500 - 2,000 rpm's when accelerating up a grade. The tick was most noticeable at lower speeds, when wind noise, etc. was minimized.

I was thinking about posting a new thread, with a discussion on the shape of the exhaust manifolds/system on an auto truck v. a manual truck. (To me, this always sounded like a leaking manifold, or a manifold with a very thin wall on the driver's side.)

Does anyone know if the manifolds/exhaust system are shaped differently on a manual vs. the auto trucks? Are there any manual transmission trucks out there with the "tick" under acceleration?

My 2010 offroad manual tranny ticks like nobody's business. I tune it out.

 

My 2010 trd sport auto v6 ticks away like nobodys business. Gonna bring it up at my next visit to the dealer.

 

there going to tell you its normal and there is nothing they can do about it.

 

Thats fine, but if the engine fails before the warranty is up I'll just tell them it must have been that normal engine noise.

 

Hmm - guess that theory's out!

 

My tick was the cat. At first the dealer replaced the exhaust manifolds, which didn't fix it, and then the cat, which did.

For about 15,000 miles. Now I have the exact same tick again.
