yeah, the dakars had crappy mismatched bushings and the OCD kicked in. So decided to replace them instead of risking having to take them out again just to replace them due to squeaking, etc. Ordered the ES bushings instead.

So what I'm trying to figure out - I am starting to think that those ES bushings are going to re-use that outer metal sleeve. If so, think I screwed up and am going to have to figure out how to remove these POS rubber bushings without a stinky/smokey burn session.

I used a piece of 6" channel iron for my rear bumper. Its about 1/2" thick at the corners. Thinest it gets is 1/4".
0525181422.jpg 0525181422c.jpg I learned from my dads bumper he made for his pickup. Thin steel doesnt make good bumpers. It was steel, but it wasnt minivan-driven by idiot on the phone proof. 1/8" twisted like a pretzel in an accident. It was a sad day when we got $9 for it at the scrap yard.

I feel like too thick on a Tacoma and all you're accomplishing is ensuring frame damage if somebody hits you that hard, but to each his own

The parts store ones snap like balsa wood compared to OEM though. I'll just keep rebuilding the collection of OEM ones I have.

I drive a 14 year old truck. The insurance company will want to total it for that reason alone.

Is there a how to on this? I'd rather rebuild mine that replace with cheap shit. Mine are still working but both boots are blown

The boot slide mod write up walks you through the boot change process too. I don't do the slide, I think it makes them weaker. But it's super easy, just really messy. I'd get the Toyota reboot kist, they come with everything, new clamps, new greases, new boots, new snap rings

But once the boot has gotten torn and shit gets in there isn't the joint compromised and basically destined to fail anyway? I didn't think putting new boots and new grease in would really do anything other then maybe make them last a little longer

Depends on how long it's been like that. I catch mine pretty quick usually and wash em out then regrease and reboot. A few hundred miles won't kill em though

Ah, mine have been torn for probably several thousand :anonymous: no signs whatsoever that they are going bad though

Then there's nothing to be lost by regrease and reboot then if there's no clicking or notchyness when manipulating them

The dealer kits are about $30 per axle and they're a great deal. You just need CV boot pliers to set the clamps and those are maybe $10

I can’t sell the E320. Same goes for the PreRunner, I grew up in both of those cars. The 5-Lug and Civic, however, I do plan on selling. The Civic I’m trying to sell before the Summer ends - but the 5-Lug I’m keeping as a long term project - which is why I am so hesitant to insure it.

I’ve had a cv boot torn for 2 1/2 years and it seems fine I think. I’m bad a maintenance.

    Probably 45k or more

I took a minute and looked at what I’m gonna have to pay for tuition and shit coming up here soon.

It’s actually about 2k cheaper than I thought so that’s decent.
