Someone just gave me a low rating with the comment "go eat your clam chowder while wearing a polo." LOL! That's definitely one rebuttal stereotype to another..

So are we basically facing a culture clash? I mean not saying that quote paints an accurate picture of me, but I'd much rather eat clam chowder than a bbq pit + apple cobbler any day!

But you got it all wrong.. your quote would apply to those snooty North East Atlantic Bay/Cod Sebago wearing folks..

True, but if one is a redneck - More likely than not, he/she is from the south. Wouldn't you agree?

I proudly fly one, along with an American flag, a Bennington Flag, and POW M.I.A flag. I see it as heritage due to many of my ancestors that were soldiers in the Revolutionary War, Civil War, WW1, WW2, Korean War, etc. I feel that racist dicks have turned the flag into what it is not. Also, just because I fly the Confederate flag, I am not a "redneck".

This all comes down to perception, if I or anyone else percieves the rebel flag as representing racism them we have a right to be offened. Its alot like sexual harrassment, if I have a sexually charged discussions at work with my coworker and someone not in the conversation overhears and is offended then boom I am in the wrong. It doesnt matter that I wasnt talking to her, it doesnt matter if I made a comment to or about her the fact that I put something out there that makes her uncomfortable is all that matters in the eyes of the law. I use this example because I recently nearly had to fire a good friend who is a great worker because he shot his mouth off about some nasty shit in front of a prude and boom he was in the wrong.

different scenario.. you're talking about a work environment where actions can be controlled/dictated by the employer. Your friend was clearly in the wrong, whoever you slice it. Those conversations shouldn't have occurred period. Had it occurred around people less prudish won't make it right.

The flag thing is a private, individual thing.. the person causing the inadvertent race tension is not in the wrong. It's just the unfortunate circumstance that a new bad apples has dictated the popular perception of the confederate flag.

i said no people be hatin . just for the simple fact everyday i go to work some black people (no racism at all ) say that im racist just for the simple fact i live in nc drive a truck and i am white. its bullshit if you ask me . but it all boils down to heritage not hate

I didnt say the southerners were in the wrong, the point is its all about perception. If you have been chased through the streets by guys in white sheets with torches waving that flag you perceive it as racism. If you are a good ol southern boy who likes to fish & hunt and has grown up with the flag you wouldnt see anything wrong with it IE: PERCEPTION
