I have NOT seen the grease only tsb either.
I have amazingly awful squeak coming from leafs. Ive had alot of trucks. None squeaked like this one year old Tacoma. Had a 2000 Silverado in 2014 that did not make a peep. Had a 1986 f150 that didnt either. $36k for a new truck and toyota dealers are being cheap assholes about this? Thats the sort of BS that made me say never again with GM.

My 2017 Silverado was like that and like I said, I lemoned it because of it. GM had at least 4 different tsbs that included grease. I guess I assumed one of the ones listed here had grease.

I just got back from the dealer. I showed him the TSB (Rev 1), he produced his own copy (Rev 2) which also applies to 2018, but has a listing of VINS to which the TSB applies before the "Production Change Effective Date." He used that table to tell me my VIN wasn't listed. At first, I took it at face value. In the truck, I took a closed look....page one of the TSB was stapled as the last page. Page one showed the same applicability VINS. So I went back, explained I think the tech was wrong on the VIN range applicability. Long story short got the service manager involved and they double checked and it is still applicable to my truck (2017). No apologies, just the silent treatment from the service adviser. I asked for paperwork so we can document the service request, he said I could wait an hour as he's going to lunch! Look forward for the customer satisfaction survey buddy!

Got the parts ordered (apparently on backorder to the dealers who give a shit or have forum reading owners).

But they had already greased the hell out of the springs, a nice temporary fix but which is surely going to attract more muck over time. More for them to clean when they do the TSB I suppose.

Thankfully no noise from my truck yet but if this is as bad as it sounds and your out of warranty then why not get some teflon friction pads from Amazon and call it a day? OEMs have been using them for decades and they aren't terribly difficult to replace. Jack the truck and axle to take the weight off the spring, pop out the old and pop in the new. Takes about an hour in the driveway. If I hit this that is exactly what I'll do. The old redneck way to do this was to cut a bike tube up, disassemble the spring pack and add some tube between each of the leafs. Looks like the job is a whole lot easier these days.

I'm trying to get my dealer to do this at my 15,000 mi service this friday. At the 10,000 mi service I showed the writer a pic of the tsb and he looked at his computer and told me no tsbs applied to my truck and that "These trucks just squeak"
On this service request I copypasted the VINs covered and my VIN and wrote "Was incorrectly told my truck had no TSBs, this chart shows my truck listed"

I'll update with what happens. Warranty service shouldn't be this difficult.

TSBs aren't recalls. It's a bulletin to speed up diagnosis time and a quicker fix. Open TSBs arent completed unless there's an issue. It's only free if covered under warranty.

If that was directed at me then yes my truck is affected. You can push the body with a pinky and the leafs squeak loudly. Really makes enjoying a 1yr old truck hard when it sounds like an 1800s horse and buggy.

Nah not at you. But people often confuse tsb with recall

You dont go to a dealer and have them complete all TSBs.

The ones for my truck I do, you don’t? It’s a bulletin for recalls

My parts are out of stock and on backorder. Service writer said jacking the truck up, prying the leaves apart and pressure washing with water only-no soap was the recommended way to decrease squeak. He said the silencer kits are marginally successful. I will try it when they arrive.

He also said Toyota is no longer doing anything about the problem. Said the TSB doesn't apply to the new trucks. So unless they have fixed the problem with the 18 model year y'all better get used to the squeak.

I know. I think service writers learn a little too much from the salesmen. Make it up if you don't know it.
This was my 15,000 mi service and I requested my 20,000 mi oil change. He tried to get me to pay for the oil change saying my 20,000 one wouldn't be free. As soon as I said make this the free one he said. "Yeah, I didn't think you'd make it to 20,000mi before your 2 years was up."

I have an 18' Auto TRD OR they greased the first time, went back for my 10k and the real tsb now applied to my truck and I haven't had any noise from that for weeks now. I live on a dirt road and the grease fix had me squeaking by the time I got home, so I think this fix is the real deal. I think all 18's will be fixed now.

Still have that diff whine though, but I don't really care as much about that so I haven't tried to get them to plug the holes.

42000 km on my truck and i had TSB done a month ago. Continued to squeak the following day after it was done.

Went back to Toyota and complained. They "lubricated" the springs called me up to pick up the truck and it was still making noise in the parking lot.

They agreed to replace both leaf packs which i had done yesterday. I walked up to my truck and sat on the tailgate and it had the exact same squeak as before... Starting to think its not the leaf packs.

My 2016 TRD sport has the squeak. The dealer has ordered parts for the TSB so hopefully that will fix it.
