First vehicle was a manual, 89 Sierra. Second also MT, 71 Ford F100. Third vehicle, 04 Pontiac Sunfire. The two vehicles I got rid of for my Taco were automatic. 03 Suburban, and 06 CRV.

I've never owned a new vehicle, so buying a manual that I know the clutch is truly "good" was pretty sweet. And going back to manual has been superb. I was lucky to have 3 trucks in the same package to choose from, in different colors. Ended up picking quicksand seeing as I live on a dirt road.

I love my 17 TRDOR Manual. Currently also have three other cars - all manual. I deal with Atlanta traffic on a daily basis, which is no joke. Lots of stop and go. You get used to it, of course I've never owned an auto anything....

At this point, probably more hassle than worth, especially financially. But, I was planning to talk to the dealer about it this week....

Love my 6MT. As stated above, the only weakness I see is the tall R gear. The third pedal is one of the main reasons I went with a Taco. After driving an auto sedan the last few years, I was getting desperate. Had a '97 Ford Explorer Sport 4x4 with the 5MT before that. Once you drive a manual 4X4, that's all you ever want!

I've always hated automatics. Every auto I've driven has made me angry by being way too eager to jump to a higher gear, but heaven forbid it downshifts so I can have some damn power to go up all these hills around here! Even learning to drive on my dad's Caprice, the thing was so reluctant to downshift if just felt gutless. They'll have to pry that third pedal from my cold dead foot...

We just took a trip to New York, my wife went down a day later with her parents and helped drive their car down. We have manuals and their car is an auto, I guess when leaving a tool booth she made her dad mad as she just stomped on the gas pedal and raved the shit out of the car. Her response was ""what to hell, isn't it supposed to shift so it doesn't rev too much", guess my farther in law wasn't impressed, I laughed my ass off when she told me.

I bought my truck because it was the only MT they had on the lot - luckily it checked off almost all my boxes (aside from having a locker). The reverse gear ratio is a joke though, trying to back a trailer on anything but a downhill slope is just miles off your clutch

I like the manual but my one gripe is 2nd gear. Those with MT don’t feel like 2nd lacks low end torque?

It’s actually very frustrating. I can’t really roll a stop sign in second or keep it in second under 7mph in traffic. There is no power at all. It’s actually dangerous in my opinion. I always have to downshift back to first and then the truck lurches because first is so tall.
