Working for BART is an excellent, high paying union job that not many people know about. High pay, pension, 401K, and health/dental benefits are some of the advantages.

Why do you think they’re always striking? They want more.

I’d rather clean BART trains than work at a dead end fast food job. You get all the benefits of a government job.

But you do have to clean BART trains. And if you’ve ever been to San Francisco then you’ll know what I’m talking about.

It is my namesake after all.

Well im looking for a 1st gen 4x4 now.. basically a cheaper offroading/hunting/fishing/daily vehicle. No need to tear up my new truck in dirty houston mud. Hard to find a nice condition tacoma without paying a huge price tag

I don't think 2nd gen diffs are any stronger than 1st gens. I mean, maybe marginally, but no one is breaking 1st gen diff anyway. It's the CVs. You should be keeping the CVs as teh weak point as they're easier to change in the field than a diff...

You’d be surprised how well 1st gens hold their value. I’ve seen sub 100k mile 4x4 v6 trucks sell upwards of $15k to $20k.

The cheapest 4x4 Tacoma in relatively decent shape I’ve seen for sale here in California is probably around the $5,000 range. Super high mileage, however. That’s the case for most of these trucks if you’re looking for a deal.

Don’t worry about mileage though. (see my 5-lug with 450,000 miles) Frame rust is what you should be worried about.

Right? I cannot fathom how min wage earners are able to deal with the astronomical costs of the bay area. Seriously, its disgusting and only getting worse.

I would consider an older 2nd gen. They're not as sought after as the 1st gens. I've seen 2nd gens go for less than many 1st gens.

You need to encounter the folks I wheel with, I've only broken more than one other guy. And really the OEM wasnt snapped or anything, just very gritty. The cheapo parts store ones are easy to break if you aren't running stock tires and occasionally bumping out of a muddy driveway or something. I don't skinney peddal too hard in the rocks but sometimes on dirt I do haha

Where I'm at in LA you'd need to make at least that to live "comfortably" as a single person...and by comfortably I mean afford a decent studio apartment and put food on your table every night. $30/hour (or ~60k a year) is really about where comfy starts. Unless you have a family and kids...then you gotta double that at least.

I work IT and I wear thin V neck tees, pink shorts and a ball cap most days. But I think my job is pretty laid back about dressup
