I mean I do "like" the smell but I would never wear it around with pride, lol

I was a lazy and impatient fuck and I didn’t want to wait until the next day to buy the correct gear oil pump for the squirt bottle it comes in.

So I did what any sane person would do, I cut the tip of the bottle off and started squirting it into the front differential at 3 AM on Christmas Eve.

Big mistake. I squeezed the bottle too aggressively and the top came off. The rest of the oil in the bottle exploded on my face, shirt, and pants.

I’ve washed those clothes many many many times now and I still can’t get the smell of gear oil out of it.

If we’re talking about good smelling fluids I vote for 87 Octane. Mmmmm.

I also liked the smell of gasoline and 2nd hand cigarette smoke as a kid, which used to worry the hell out of my mom. It did sort of preview my teenage/early-adult poor life decisions though I guess.

I’ve been soaked with just about every fluid imaginable. Gasoline, transmission fluid, brake fluid, motor oil, power steering fluid... all of them washed out no problem.

    But gear oil...

    Gear oil prevails.

Used to love the smell of 2-strokes as a kid. Watched a lot of dirt trackers and go-cart races growing up.

I have two jackets that vaguely smell like it. It just never goes away. Luckily I don't need jackets much in AZ

Just don't melt your pants, I've melted some polyester clothes before and it hurts if it touches skin.

yeah I'm not too sure where mine came from except that I was just weird. I think it runs in the family. I was spinning my 5 year old nephew around until he got so dizzy he couldn't stand...he fell over and looked up at me and I shit you not, he said 'I want to feel like this all the time'. I turned to my sister and told her that she's going to have her hands full when he gets older, lol.

I’ve been to like 12 different junkyards over the past month and what I’ve noticed is how common 90’s to present day Mustangs are. They’re everywhere.

90’s American manufacturing was just horrendous.

I’ll admit, the old 60’s and 70’s Mustangs are beautiful. I’d buy one in a heartbeat, hell maybe even one to restore. Either that or a brand new one.

There’s nothing in between. There’s a reason why those cars are sitting plentiful in junkyards across the country.
