I KNEW it! We fight extreme heat and humidity for 10 days surrounding and including the 4 days of the City Swim Meet......and then it cools off. Now that we're back in the air conditioning, it gets comfortable to work outside.

So....FJ in the shop and partially torn down so I can start getting a list of parts needed. Brakes dis-assembled so far. Will start on AC soon enough. Trying to make a decision on suspension....Want 2"+ more lift. I'll order tires soon. 35's or 37's...Need to start cutting for them. Also trying to develop a plan for what I'll do with the interior. All that's been decided so far is to gut the interior and start over. Aiming for getting this project road-worthy/off road worthy by end of May next year. May be optimistic....A lot to do in that time.

Tacoma get's new front coils and shocks soon. Almost 100K on current Billstiens. They HAVE to be wearing out by now. Will install 1/2" plate spacers too. Looking for about an inch more than what I currently have.

Gotta get motivated to get a few things done. I always try to have the summer mods done before Harlan (end of October) Just 3 months left!

I just dont know where else to post this. About 1/2 hour ago, I got one of those phone calls you dread. One of my oldest and best friends died of a heart attack at age 61.

He was one of the healthiest appearing people I know. No signs to any of us. He simply walked in to work, sat down at his desk and laid his head down. When a coworker grew concern, he was already gone.

    Godspeed Billy.

 Thats crazy. It freaks me out hearing about people I know (of) having heart attacks in their mid-late 30's these days too. Must be all the stress out there! I need to get back to the woods or something myself...

Powerful Sorry to hear of your loss, Bill. Poor Fella never got to enjoy one day of retirement. It just ain’t fair! My colleague is off this afternoon (funeral) for relatively the same thing. Guy was healthy as could be. Went to bed at days end & never woke up. They said “Natural Causes”. Hell of it was, this Kid was only 21. :pout:
Yeah, life ain’t fair but it sure is beautiful.

Everything has a beginning, a middle, and ultimately an end. Ya just dont know when.

Did the math.....good friends for 54-1/2 years. Cant say one bad thing about him. (Other than) Looked like Rod Stewart (young) while we were in HS. He always reminds me that Rod Stewart ALMOST became the original singer for my beloved Led Zepplin.

    Friends.

Gonna meet up with about 20 former class mates from high school today around 4PM. We were asked to get together and pick pall bearers for my buddy's funeral. So far we have 16 volunteers. And we haven't asked everyone yet. If the family agrees, we will swap off at several opportunities, with a final 6 picked from his closest friends. That 6 will do the detail at the burial site.

Something to think about....If you or I were to die today, would we have a long list of people wanting to be pall bearers? That's how amazingly popular this guy is. I can think of but TWO people I've known my entire life that NO ONE has ever had a bad word for or about them. Now lost 'em both inside of 18 months.

Not yet. It's the dark gray found on 2011s now. I'm gonna see what that looks like. Then paint it myself.
