I had to share this with some folks I figured would appreciate it. I guess is this his idea of a budget roof rack. Absolutely hilarious. Looks pretty janky and had already popped apart in one joint... so needless to say I got away from him as quickly as possible.

Note the tennis balls on the feet so it doesn't scratch his ride.

That was by far my favorite part of this monstrosity.

 

The minutes spent thinking it over and the hours spent building it AND STILL thinking it was good idea... priceless

 

Ha. He's got a solid work ethic. I'll give him that. I so want to know more about this man.

The funny thing is that he is fine with putting that hideous thing on his roof but he's worried about roof scratches!

 

And to think how proud of it he was while showing it off to his buddies.

 

This probably cost 10 times as much as just getting some foam blocks and certainly took him a lot longer to get setup.

When you get to home depot and you realize you have less money than you thought for the project.

 

You guys laugh. What if that's his best effort? He tried his hardest? Not everyone can be engineers...

 

Uh, 2 pool noodles and couple of straps would have been a lot cheaper, time consuming, better looking, and safer for everyone invloved.

You know that. I know that. Some people just can't figure that out and do their best with their limited skill or creativity. I don't ever make fun of anyone if they are trying hard, and that dude put a lot of effort into an unfortunate design and material selection.

 

There’s already a rack on the roof buried underneath all the pvc. It’s not like he was laughing in the guys face while driving by him (I’m assuming this as I was not there), just an innocent laugh at a ridiculous mutant kayak rack. No offense.
