I've invited members to my cabin twice so far this summer for a meet and to do some shooting, grilling & wheeling with very little interest. Yesterday i posted on this page inviting members up to my cabin to do some fishing the saturday after next.

I know we’ve had small groups of people getting together but the last big meet was few years ago and only about 8-10 showed up .I know every one is busy so maybe a Fall date would be better .

I would be up for a big meet at my cabin on a weekend in October. Camp, grill, shoot, wheel then drink by the fire at night.

Nice Nova. Since I spend all my free time in the mountains I've been thinking of selling my Chevelle & Caddy.

Any Saturday or Sunday it's raining I can't do chores or mods. Even then there are honey do tasks inside lined up. I don't mind putting them on hold though if I can. Columbia or Ellicott City is about 2 hours for me. Probably less if I hurry. Fall or winter is definitely best.

I did mine in a couple of hours. I wouldn't say it was hard, but you do need to take your time to get it right.

    Some key points -

The rubber (like) bases of the new rack are a sort of gasket that forms the seal between the roof and the rail part. They have a piece of similar weather stripping to what's on the truck and fit in the grooves in the very front and in the back. The one in the back is longer. It fits all the way over the curve of the roof and down to the top of the back window.

The weather OEM stripping pulls off pretty easily. It's only held in place by a couple small metal tracks and some 3M double face tape. Make sure you have some Goo Gone or 3M Adhesive Remover spray (what I used) to remove the residue, especially where the base trim I talked about above is. You want that cleaned completely so you get a better fit.

The threaded holes that the bolts go into that attach the rails to the roof are covered with a rubbery foam tape before the truck is painted at the factory. You need to cut out openings in that tape only at the holes needed for the rack. I used an exacto knife with a fresh blade. You can also just poke holes with a Phillips screwdriver. I'm a little OCD.

I coated the hell outta the bolts with locktite thread locker. I read a post where a guy had one of these installed by the dealer and developed a leak. Not sure how but I also remember reading how some guys use these same holes to mount other roof racks and use hollow bolts to run the wires through for lightning. Now, maybe someone was full of shit and both are not even true or possible but I wasn't taking any chances.

There are two metal brackets that you attach in the groove you took the weather stripping out of in the front. There is a large hole in the back, a smaller hole that goes towards the front of the truck. The rails have a plastic push pin type fastener that is already attached to them. That push pin goes into that smaller hole. I found that if I started there first, bending the metal bracket with my hand after it's attached, I could get the pin in the hole correctly.

Once I had that, I worked the rail part down into the base part using a poly auto trim tool sort of like using a shoe horn to put on loafers. It's a tight fit. Do not use a little metal flathead screwdriver. Doh!

Little pieces of blue painters tape help keep the rubber washers in place.

The same tape will help hold the flat washer in place on the rotating cross rail attachment point that has to be attached after the two bolts in this location on the passenger side rail only. Again, Doh!

Do not sell your trim. If you ever want to remove the rack or replace it with another type you'll need it.

Here's the video I watched before doing mine. There are more. PM if you wanna talk.
