Don't take this offensively, but Belles are probably the greatest product of the South. Not sweet tea, not grits, not BBQ.

In the beginning Lincoln's strategy was to do whatever it took to preserve the union. After a certain point in the war that strategy changed to completely abolishing slavery.

the abolishment of slavery was a punishment to the CSA for secession because Lincoln and many others knew that the loss of slavery would completely destroy the southern states economy

Have great, great grandfathers that fought on both sides of my family for the Confederacy. So yes, it's a heritage thing not hate, for me at least. It should never be used in a way that offends anyone.

Let's see, Southern Heritage. To me means fried chicken, fried catfish, frog legs, calf fries, barbeque, fresh garden vegetables, ice cold water melon, hot humid nights, hunting and fishing, looking after your neighbors, less government, highest honor for military and veterans, individual accountability.

Perhaps the above applies to you also? It just that the above is held sacred for the most part here in the South.

Three ancestors of mine fought in the Confederate Army. I am a true southern boy and have never seen the confederate flag as a symbol of hate, but more a symbol of pride and defiance.

It is difficult to explain without sounding like a hypocrite. I love my country, but I despise many things about it. I fought for my country, but I proudly display a confederate battle flag that signifies secession from that very Union.

    Juxtaposition anyone?

I'm hispanic and the flag doesn't bother me. I think it's historical. Most countries that have had an internal struggle have had 2 or more flags to represent different sides (Germany, France, the UK if you consider the different groups fighting with their own flags). I personally think it looks cool. I wouldn't fly because it's not in my history and because some people see it as hate and I don't want no beef :D

I don't know man, I think your shirt is funny but it has a direct connection to a horrible monster in history and the terrible acts that followed his rule. I personally think it's inappropriate but I'm not the one wearing it. Not sure how you get away wearing it across the brow.

But if you're talking about slavery.....you have to go further back than the Civil War

Sorry to you thin skinned folks.....it's funny...but it does show how far slavery has been going on.....don't blame the south on slavery.
