Pretty cool. I saw them for the first time at a meet and greet and immediately thought "that's the ticket". I'd been pondering doing a mod of the oem rack but the ditch tracks allow for different racks(prinsu type included) as well as nothing and no wind drag. Took more work to get them on my AC but worth the trouble for this pilgrim. Still requires drilling even on a DC for which they are made.

when y'all are strappin' stuff down to these racks, how many clamps you got on the cap? cou'n't the whole thing get ripped off with the load, rack, & cap staying together? until it hit the ground at least.

Do you mean the clamps holding the cap to the rails in the truck bed? My cap currently has 4, but I would probably add at least 2 more on each side giving me 8. Probably overkill, but the clamps are cheap so whatever

exactly. the fiberglass flange which clamps to the truck. my leer had two, and I added one in the middle (each side). but I didn't have a roof rack. just seems like a weak spot in the system to me. but I are not no engineer.

    Don’t be a dick

People have been running it that way for years with some pretty heavy loads up top so I guess it can’t be that bad

    Yep.
@BeachBoy Are you still planning on or working towards some AC/DB cab plate design? I would love to use your AC design and further modify it to fit my RC :D - I'll use the other guys as a last resort... if I can find a set of side plates.

    IT NEVER ENDS..........
I would not worry about the bolts and washers or clamps attaching it to the rails. With the weight of the shell and inertia they just keep it in place. The weak spot is the tracks up top on the thin metal or fiberglass. The weight of anything would rip that off first before possibly ripping off the whole shell. It would all depend on what you hit and how you hit it really. But I have seen a guy drive into a parking garage with his RTT and rip off the whole shell soooooo shit happens.

This is why most of us are looking for quality racks and side panels like this to evenly distribute the weight of our gear up top where most of the torque is off road.

I just (barely) remember hitting a telephone pole when I had just got my drivers license. I hit it at the level of a '61 ford falcon bumper and it snapped about 8' high. dad thought I was a dick. mom did not think it was funny.

let's put this out on the table:

email & public forums are not perfect forms of communication.

in this specific instance, I was emphasizing my lack of knowledge by using a double negative.

I have 65 & 3/4 years of stupid, so it's not likely I have to show it off for youse guys.

the drumming circle will gather at firepit #3 at 6:00 pm. s'mores and group hug to follow. dress is casual.

Telling someone their a dick because they picked on you and then picking on someone else on the forum is something someone your age shouldn’t do.
