    I figured it was 185 under somewhat mild conditions, then what would it be towing my boat, and/or when it is 120 outside? The factory one probably would have done fine, but I like overkill and get bored sometimes too.

    Workin' on it....
    When ambient is in the 60's I'm probably at 160-180F tranny temp. When ambient is 100 F+ I'm pushing 200+ on the tranny temp. Engine temp is pretty consistent across the board between 185 - 200 with an ambient temp range of 60 F - 120 F.

    Do your skids fully cover the bottom of the engine? You may not be getting enough airflow through the radiator and possibly around the tranny housing. I dont know how much air around the housing would cool it but the incoming air coming through the radiator has to have a place to go, if not you wont be moving much air through the radiator due to the dead air space created by an essentially sealed engine compartment.
    Try removing the skid under the transmission then try to test under the same conditions and see if it helps.

    I meant keeping the factory one and the additional one. That’s currently what I have.

    I saw about a 40-50 degree decrease in trans temp

    I have full skids with a trans skid right under the pan. Running 35s on stock gears too

    Damn not boosted my IAT temps the other day were 128* running 70+ down the highway, at idle in traffic I've seen as high as 150. Seems like that intercooler is doing a decent job to me.

    Skids do cover a lot but I don't think any different than any other aftermarket manufacturer's skids.

    Ok. I dont have any experience or temp data with skids so I am just thinking from a physics standpoint.

    Even with a full skid set up there is plenty of room for air to move in and around. They don't cover as much as you're thinking.

    I have torque pro and I havent seen a log like that. Are you importing it to excel or something?

    But you are 100% correct that's why Lemans cars and stuff duct air and control airflow to the different coolers makes them efficient and the air has to move to do anything.

    Very true! The C-130 engine I work on controls oil temperature with an oil cooler. It is open at the front and has a movable flap behind it. Even in sub zero temps the engine oil can overheat if the flap actuator sticks in the closed position.

    Air control is key which is why in the High A/C temps thread I said to seal between the different coolers so that air cannot escape from between them and will get pulled through them more efficiently. I have seen some cars overheat because people remove the lower plastics under the engine since they are alternating the airflow that the enginerds have designed.
