So on Friday the 13th of July someone smashed my back passenger window out and robbed my backpack. Just two days ago I get a “hit and run” and the pos doesn’t leave a note. It’s been a expensive month /:

Get a black backpack. Always put it in the back seat floor. Cover it with a black towel. Nobody will ever rob you cause they cannot see it. It's what I do.

I was trapped in Silicon Valley, Bay Area, California. Decided it was time for a change and get off the crazy train to insanity, and moved to Montana.

ok the bumper is a blessing, here's why....insurance cuts a check you add couple hundred to it....viola plate bumper(high clearance or not). As for the window...yea...that sucks.

Explain this plate bumper. You are saying I can pay more $ with my deductible ($200) and get a better “high” clearance OEM Toyota bumper? Or at the body shop tell the staff “hey look this is the kind of bumper I want”?

Yeah the window shattered into literally a million pieces. I am still finding glass shards in the back seats. /:

Sadly, you will for years. Roommate borrowed my Mustang years ago, and left her purse on the passenger seat (dumbass). Found itty bitty "diamonds" for the whole summer, even though the window was replaced and car was cleaned by "professionals". Sorry, hope your run of bad luck is done.

This may vary by insurer. If there was another party, i.e. claimed on their insurance, you would take it to a shop, get a quote, (or several), and their insurance has to make you whole (i.e "pay for the repair" AKA put cash in your hand). You could theoretically take that insurance money, rub it together with some of your own shekels, and walla! You've got a CBI high clearance bumper ready for install.

HOWEVER, since it's a hit and run / uninsured motorist type of claim, it's your insurance company. They may insist on a "back to stock" repair. Or you may not want to even claim it, if the repair is small enough $$, since it will go on your claims record.

Back bumper and taillight assembly plus install I’m guessing isn’t going to be cheap .. I will be claiming it yes. I guess my truck will depreciate more so with that claim, correct? Even though it was hit and run?

I don't know if the repair will cause the truck to depreciate, that'd be more of a carfax thing. The taillight assembly is around 200$, (USD) I busted mine a while ago as well. If just the bumper fill plate is damaged and not the bumper itself that's around 100$, (USD) Didn't bother repairing my bumper, as I plan to get an aftermarket one at some point. It also looks like your bedside and tailgate don't line up correctly now, although it could just be the bed rail cover. You're probably best served to get a quote or two first, then make a claim or not.

I feel for you. I left my truck unlocked accidentally one night, parked in my driveway, and some scum went house to house, doing quick door handle pulls to find an unlocked vehicle....cleaned all the goodies out of my truck, but fortunately didn't have broken glass.

People are scum, but life goes on, I know the feeling of violation and wish you the best.
