I need some help trying to find a auto lift, its finally time, Im over the jack and jackstands every day, ha! Need a 2 post clear floor type.

Anybody know anyone selling a good 2 post lift!! Its time time set one up here at the shop, new premium ones are out of my budget, and I dont really want a Chinese cheapy one thats got thin gauge steel and an undersized pump, plus really small rams and skinny cables, no bueno!!
Its crazy how much of a difference there is between a good one and a cheap one, but boy does the price reflect that!

I found a Mohawk 1A which is a very good unit (retails for $6500 ) but they want almost 3K for it and its from the early 2000s, good lawd! Thats a LOT of cash for such an old unit, not to mention its up in LA so I would have to borrow a big ass trailer and drive about 4 hours round trip (probably longer with a HUUUGE trailer), just a scary purchase.and I would be freaking out if it didnt work or was leaking, missing parts, etc....just a lot of what ifs, but from what I researched it is pretty much the Cadillac of Lifts so. But damn its quite a drive and from the pictures it looks pretty beat and this is the last one of 5 he sold so Im thinking this is likely the most beat one of the lot!!

On the other hand I can get a brand new cheap ass Chinese one thats just pretty much a Harbor Freight style lift for like $1500, but you get what you pay for..
Being that I work almost EVERY SINGLE DAY using a jack and jackstands for the past 20 years or so, I just dont want a cheap one, besides they take about a full minute to raise a car, I am not that patient, haha.

Or a 3rd option is to get a mid grade one, not sure if Chinese, but its a better unit but still cheap components, boo, and they are about $3K as well.

What to do...Anybody have experience with 2 post clear floor type lifts and have a good place to find a good used one maybe??

I pretty much only have today to get one and then I have to work again for 5 days straight...with a lift that would really save me some time on all my work, plus I have 3 big LT jobs that I need to do so the lift would really help me out on those!!
Man I really hate making big purchases like this, its pretty stressful actually.

Anyway hope all you misfits are having a great week, besides the fact that its been absolutely hot AF!!!

Ok now I gotta check my sea of PMs, Im not ignoring anyone, haha!!!

Maybe there is a demolition company (somewhere) that has some from closed auto service businesses?

I swear a friend of mine offered me 1 (of 3) that a buddy of his had turned him on to. I will see him this week, lemme ask if they are still around. Were from a closed local dealership and were in the $1,500 range IIRC. Didn't commit the conversation to memory since I am looking for a 4 post, not a 2.

And yeah, hot AF. Regretting not budgeting for the mini split in the shop. Probably have enough $ for it by the time winter rolls around.

ETA: Talked to buddy, lift is out of a shop in Esco that is going out of business. Challenger E10 2 post, $2,000 obo. Company selling it is Infamous Performance. He just messaged them to see if it was still available (ad was on Facebook somewhere).

Keep watching this online auction website: http://calauctions.com/

It lists nationwide auctions, and they do have an outlet in San Diego. There are usually several San Diego County auctions listed. I have seen vehicle lifts go for ridiculously low prices. You just have to keep checking for San Diego listings.

He is having connectivity problems with the apparently crappy cell service. Help him out and post the links so he isn't flying blind or contact him directly.

Jason, what about digging a pit? In the old days... before hydraulic lifts, they drove the car over a pit the mechanic worked in, standing up. Another 'Baja' option is to build a pair of concrete ramps wide enough for the tires. A car wash in El Rosario used one to clean the underside of cars.

I have my info with a couple places that come across them sometimes, its all about the timing! Thanks thats in the works!

Lemme know if you have a link? I was looking at the Challenger SA10 new for $2700 and its one step up from that one, but if you have a link I will check it out for sure, thank you!!!
And yeah I am thinking about putting one of my old wall units in my Container so at least I have a cool down room to go to when its hot AF outside, I have nowhere to go except into my truck with the AC on, haha...

On it! Thank you very much!

Been trying that, need to join more groups apparently, lol. But yeah thats a really good source, as is CL, but CL is really Fking flaky!!!

Yeah I live in a damn valley and have crap for reception if not in the living room! Grrr..

Nah I need a Lift, I am going to store another vehicle below the other one, those are really only for fluid changes anyway...I cant do lifts on one unfortunately, which is why I need it.
But thank you for the option, thanks David!

I wish I had a direct link for you, it is on a group that I am not a member of.
This is what my buddy sent me.

    Image-1.jpg

I googled them and this is the phone # for them, they are out in Esco over by ORW.
    Infamous performance (760) 781-1126
Per my buddy the lift was still available yesterday.
I have no connection to the seller, my buddy just passed the info on to me because he knows I will be buying a lift eventually.
    Hope this helps.

As for the shop AC, I put a spare window shaker unit in right next to my workbench. It doesn't cool the whole shop but it helps as do the two AC ducts from the house. Part of my shop was a garage conversion (was garage, became family room, garage again) so it had ducting.
Still got to almost 90 in there yesterday.
And I got a nastygram from SDG&E about my power usage. Can't wait to see my (rape) bill this month.

Remembered I posted in progress pics of my shop build but didn't put the "finished" product up.

Well, here ya go. Kinda out of order.

    Looks Great!! Very nice job!
What did you use on the floor?? I’m looking for a good concrete sealer, but don’t want that shitty Rustoleum stuff (the reviews are horrifying).
Might get some stuff at thr paint shop that’s a nice 2 part semi gloss clear sealer stuff really gets expensive, lol. But I want something good since it’s pretty high traffic and needs to hold up.
But damn your place looks awesome!!
You getting yours done a lot faster than me, lol!

It is ground, densified and polished. The product they used is called Ameripolish.
Company out of Riverside did it for me.
Wasn't cheap but they did a fantastic job. Can give you their contact info if you want.
