I wouldn’t trade it either but still annoying. I also wish sixth gear was geared differently to allow for better gas mileage. Feel like my RPMs are too high rolling in sixth.

Just commenting since you have a new 2018. Give it all time to break in and for you to get used to the (lack of) feel in the clutch. TBH at 9k, my 1st gear syncros are still breaking in since I rarely go into 1st while rolling, and the rest of the gears took 1,000mi or more to fully smooth out. That said, my particular Taco seems to drive well in 2nd at around 7mph / parking lot speeds. Others have said that theirs doesn't. I agree that if you need to accelerate, 2nd at 7mph is not good. That just takes some time to get used to, IMO.

This motor does like to spin and the truck is deceptively quick if you get it up in the revs. It likes to tickle the limiter and there is absolutely no problem doing that. The 4.0l was a very good motor also, but felt wheezy at the top. Both have their charms.

I’m at 5k miles and still feels the same. But maybe different over different trucks.

It definitely has a lot of pull higher in the RPMs. I’ve mellowed out some but when I first got it I was driving it like a hot hatch. It can be a lot of fun.

Yeah. There does seem to be an odd amount of variance for a Toyota product.

Same here, esp with rise fuel prices. It sometimes feel more like a car than a truck.

I live just outside Atlanta, you're right the traffic is no joke around here. You have to really love manuals to own one here haha. Just bought my 2018 DCSB OR manual about 6 weeks ago plus I have 2 other cars that are manual. My dad just bought a 2018 ACLB Sport manual a few weeks before mine came in and my brother has had his 2016 DCSB Sport manual since they were released. Manuals just seem to run in the family, my wife doesn't get it lol. My dad's obsession with manuals was passed on to my brother and I who have always owned manuals.

Still breaking in my truck, but loving the manual transmission as expected. The truck does like to be revved up to shift well, but used to high revs in the S2000. :burnrubber: As others have said, the reverse is a bit laughable, it really is too tall.

The difference in gear ratios between 1-2 is a bit too much for the 2GR (in some situations) unless you're shifting quite high. The response is better with OVtune, but still not great.

Spoke with the dealer today, they're trying to dig up a manual 3rd gen for me to drive(used/new, dont care), but, itll be another OR, or... a Pro that comes home if I swap it.
Wife is not pleased, as I'd have to find something else for her to drive during the winter weather etc...

Either way, she has her Daytona, this is my call.... we shall see what happens.
