You can use any battery in almost every vehicle. You just need a top or bottom riser for the Oddysey 1500. It’s actually shorter than the stock battery.

Sent in copy of invoice and picture of installed battery. If stealership denies claim then will post that on this forum.

Any chance you can provide links to a moron like me so I know exactly what I need? Putting in a quality battery seems like money well spent.

Here’s the battery I bought, you may find it cheaper if you shop around.

    https://www.summitracing.com/parts/ody-34r-pc1500t

It’s the last battery you’ll need for 10-15 years, a lot of members have these and similar.

It’s sealed and more CCA and 3/4” shorter than the stock battery, you can use a riser underneath or do what I did and use a shim on top and still use the stock battery tie downs.

By the time they would have arrived I would have lost $200 in perishable groceries. Ended up buying some ice to keep stuff cool while I lugged battery to store. In the end, I have a much better battery than the OEM one. Just glad it didn't crap out on I75 in Atlanta, a trip I take often.

$250 dollars for that battery and only has a limited 2 year warranty. Oof. 10-15 years sounds like you're dreaming.

Day of WTF... 11 months and 20,000 miles into ownership of my 2017 Taco and my battery is DOA when I walk out of the grocery store! (Of course with frozen foods...) this cannot be normal!?

Ditto! Don't feel bad, mine was 11 months and 10,000 miles. OEM batteries are junk!

The batteries that Toyota installs, are sorry POS batteries...Mine is leaking just turned 12,000 miles... last time I had it in for Toyota Care...The service team overlooked the leak...
Now, I have an appointment to go in and have them "look" again.

Yeah, immensely frustrating. I noticed the cranking slowed around lunch time but attributed it to the heat here as of late. Nope... cranked it after work, drove to the grocery store and had to get a jump after buying groceries.

Got home, checked the water, all good, put it on the charger; first time flashed an error and declared bad battery. I changed the connections and made them more secure, then it started charging; SLOWLY. Woke up the next morning and it said 98% charged; still would not crank, just clicked as I turned the key.

This is a bone stock truck with no accessories, no deep discharges without engine running; nothing. I have regular 5k service scheduled Tuesday but will have to get a jump to get there. Looks like it's the motorcycle this week... just in time for epic rainstorms all week. :frusty:

Can you provide a link to where this is in the ToyotaCare terms? I'd rather replace my battery with my own choice of brand vs another factory defect, but would be even more awesome if I can get reimbursed for it.

It is not part of Toyotacare, it is part of the Factory Warranty. You cannot replace your functioning one now with a battery of your choice and expect them to pay for it. However if the Battery fails and you cannot get to a dealer and have to buy one in an emergency they will reimburse you.

Thanks, considering it's still dead and I'm having to commute with the motorcycle in epic rainstorms; I'm buying a new one and submitting it.

If you are unable to reasonably get your truck to a dealer and the Battery is the problem, then I don't see why they would not cover an "equal" value battery

They are submitting it for reimbursement but did state that it will take awhile for Toyota to cut me a check. I’m fine with the waiting so long as they honor it. I did sort of unload on the device writer when he asked me how my truck was working out for me... bad timing. I also had to return the OEM battery to them for the reimbursement and warranty coverage. It was at 10.25VDC last I measured and degrading.

There is a TSB out there for all Toyota vehicles that applies to long term battery storage and install of old batteries into new vehicles. Basically a common sense TSB; don’t forget to maintain/charge batteries in vehicles and in parts...
